CHILDREN’S CHOIR TO PERFORM THIS SUNDAY
St. Peter’s children’s choir – the Key Singers – will be performing the Offertory Anthem this Sunday at the 9am worship service. New choir members are always welcome – rehearsals take place Tuesdays at 6pm and all youth are welcomed to participate. St. Peter’s new worship band will also be performing at the 9am service and St. Peter’s Choir will be singing John Rutter’s “Look at the World” as the Offertory Anthem for the 11am service.
PARISH VIDEO NOW ON YOU-TUBE
Have you seen the video? The video presentation that was shown at the cottage meetings, “St. Peter’s Church – Our Past, Present and Future,” is now available on You Tube for everyone to view: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESGcLo0j7JA
COTTAGE MEETINGS: THANK YOU FOR YOUR PARTICIPATION
Over the past two weeks there have been 10 cottage meetings held at St. Peter’s at different times and days to engage the parish in conversations about the church and its future. The Discernment Committee is in the midst of compiling and analyzing the notes from the meetings and is presenting its findings to the Vestry this evening. The Vestry will be discussing what was offered at the meetings and developing a vision for our future. A report of the findings and vision will be presented to the congregation in the next couple of weeks.
Thank you to everyone who participated in these meetings. We had a good cross-section of the parish attend, including a special cottage meeting that our youth participated in last Sunday. A special thank you to all Vestry members who facilitated and took notes at these meetings.
SAVE THE DATE: OCT 2 – CAFÉ NIGHT AND BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS
On Sunday, October 2, the Trailblazers Youth Group will host the season’s first Café Night in the Parish Hall from 5pm to 7pm and all parishioners and their friends are encouraged to attend. The theme is Oktoberfest and all proceeds benefit St. Peter’s Trailblazers. Mark your calendars.
In celebration of the feast of St. Francis of Assisi there will be a blessing of the animals on Sunday afternoon, October 2 at 4pm at St. Peter’s Courtyard. All parishioners and their animal companions are encouraged to attend this short service. Father David will be blessing all breeds and species of animals. Mark your calendars.
JOIN ST. PETER’S CARING TEAM
'Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me. Matt. 25:40
One of St. Peter’s many successful ministries is the care of members of our congregation who are in need. Those who are willing to offer help are part of St. Peter’s Caring Team and over the past few years members of the team have quietly and effectively helped parishioners with meals, rides, and visits. Would you be willing to join the Caring Team? Here’s what’s involved: You sign up as a member of the team with Pastoral Care Committee Chair Laura McCarthy, giving her your email address. Then, when Laura is informed of a need, she sends an email out to all the Caring Team members. If you are able to help out with a meal, or a ride, or a visit, or some other need, you just send an email back and volunteer. If you can, you don’t respond and perhaps the next time you’ll be able to help. That’s it – no meetings to attend, no forms to fill out -- you are just notified when your help is needed and you decide whether or not you can help.
To join the Caring Team, contact Laura McCarthy at email@example.com.
WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY BEGINS OCOTBER 8
Women’s Bible Study returns Saturday mornings this fall at 8:30am in the Parish Hall, beginning on October 8. The study series is called "The Armor of God" and will last 6 weeks. All are invited to participate. A brief synopsis: All day, every day, an invisible war rages around you. A cunning devilish enemy seeks to wreck havoc on everything that matters to you---your emotions, your mind, your family, your future. But his reign stops right here, right now. With you.
Please join us for this fascinating study. Contact Carolyn Jenkins, 410-742-7764.
