Because we are welcoming more families with young children, our Sunday morning nursery has expanded to two rooms – one for infants and toddlers, and the other for preschool aged children. Thank you to Emily and Ryan Atkin, Pat Laustsen and Megan Fenoglietto for their work in updating the nursery. Take a look this Sunday at what’s been done.
We also have said goodbye to Rebecca Morrell who has been our Nursery Attendant for more than 2 years. We welcome Nicole Widner as our new Nursery Attendant. Nicole is a student at Salisbury University who is majoring in early childhood/elementary education. She is on duty for the 9am and the 11am Sunday services.
We are also seeking a second nursery attendant. A job announcement for that position can be found on the parish website at http://www.stpeterschurch.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/NurseryAttendant-Second_Job-Description.pdf. If you know someone who might be interested, please invite them to view the job announcement and apply.
WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY BEGINS OCTOBER 8
Women’s Bible Study returns this Saturday morning at 8:30am in the Parish Library. The study series is called "The Armor of God" and will last 6 weeks. All are invited to participate. A brief synopsis: All day, every day, an invisible war rages around you. A cunning devilish enemy seeks to wreak havoc on everything that matters to you---your emotions, your mind, your family, your future. But his reign stops right here, right now. With you.
SAVE THE DATE: ALL PARISH CLEAN-UP NOV. 12
The Property Committee has announced that the all parish Fall Clean Up Day will be Saturday morning, November 12 from 9am to 12noon at St. Peter’s. All parishioners are needed to help work on some projects and cleaning of our church buildings. Please mark the date and plan to be part of our stewardship of our buildings and grounds.
INQUIRER’S CLASS BEGINS NOV. 1
Interested in becoming Episcopalian, or just curious about the church? Already Episcopalian but want to know more about the faith? Have some questions about worship, or practices, or beliefs, or something else associated with the Episcopal Church? Sign up and take part in this fall’s Inquiry Class, Tuesday evenings at 7pm in the Parish Hall. This seven week class looks at worship, the prayer book, church history, beliefs, church organization, practices and more. The class is informal and can be tailored to topics the group wants to explore.
It is a class for anyone who has a question about the church, anyone who is interested in being Episcopalian, and those interested in being confirmed or received as adults in the church.
It is required for any adult wishing to be confirmed or received by the Bishop of Easton when he visits St. Peter’s on January 15, 2017. There is no charge and anyone is welcomed to attend. The class will be led by the Rector, the Rev. David Michaud.
Because there are materials that need to be ordered, those interested in taking the class are asked to register in advance. Contact the Parish Office, giving your name and contact information and saying you are interested in attending the Inquirer’s Class. Or email Father David directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
BOYCHOIR MEMBERS IN NEED OF LODGING NOV. 4
The Maryland State Boychoir is once again coming to St. Peter’s on Friday, November 4 at 7:30pm to be the choir for our service of Evensong and then to present a small concert after the service.
We are in need of volunteers who would be able to provide lodging in their homes Friday night for some of the members of the choir and provide breakfast and a bag lunch for them the next day. We have heard from previous host families that it was an outstanding experience and privilege to have these talented and courteous young men in their homes. If you are willing to help or would like more information, please contact Music Ministries Director Brittany Spicer directly at email@example.com. Thank you for your ministry of hospitality.
WOMEN’S MEETING WITH BISHOP MARRAY NOV. 17
All women are invited to meet with our new Bishop Santosh Marray on Thursday, November 17 at the Diocesan Center in Easton from 9:30am until 2:00pm. This will be an opportunity for women from throughout the Diocese to share ideas and participate with the bishop in the fellowship of the Eucharist and a luncheon. Each parish is asked to be represented. If you are interested in attending and representing St. Peter’s, please contact Father David or the parish office for more information and to register.
BISHOP MARRAY’S INSTALLATION ON OCT 15
We will be celebrating the Investiture of our new bishop, the Rt. Rev. Santosh Marray, at 11am on Saturday October 15 at Todd Performance Center, Chesapeake College, Wye Mills. Music begins at 10:30am. All members of parishes in the Diocese of Easton are encouraged to attend. Parishioners are encouraged to carpool and arrive early. It’s not that often that we experience the Investiture of a new bishop – it is quite the celebration! The Presiding Bishop Michael Curry will be the celebrant and the Rt. Rev. John McKee Sloan, the Bishop of Alabama, will be the preacher.
If you are a Lay Eucharistic Minister, Eucharistic Visitor, Worship Leader or Acolyte, you are invited to vest and process behind St. Peter’s banner at the Investiture on October 15 but you need to let Father David know in advance so he can make sure you have a place to sit. Contact him at firstname.lastname@example.org by October 7 to let him know you intend to be part of the procession.
More information about the Bishop’s Investiture is available on the Diocesan website: http://dioceseofeaston.org/xi-bishop-investiture/
BIRTHDAY CARD MINISTRY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We are in need of someone who is willing to prepare and mail birthday cards to the parishioners of St. Peter's.
The process is relatively simple and will take only about 1-2 hours of your time per month. Cathy Parsons, the Parish Administrator, will mail and/or email you the list of upcoming birthdays ahead of time. You will write a short message inside the card, address and mail the birthday cards prior to the birth dates. Birthday cards and stamps are provided. That's it! And feedback from parishioners indicate they are very appreciative!
If you feel called to participate in this fun and welcomed ministry, please email Laura McCarthy at email@example.com This could be done by just one person or a couple, or a group.
FAX MACHINE AVAILABLE
There is an older, used fax machine, no longer being used by the Parish Office, that is available for give away. If interested, contact the Parish Office at 410-742-5118 soon.
COFFEE HOUR HOSTS NEEDED
Will you help with St. Peter’s ministry of hospitality by signing up to host a coffee hour? Volunteers are needed for the upcoming weeks. The responsibilities of a coffee hour host are listed on the inside of the closet door of the supply closet in the parlor. The sign up board is on the same door. Thank you!
