Peter's Post

CHRISTMAS FEASTING LASTS THROUGH FRIDAY: EPIPHANY
We conclude our Christmas Season observances with the Feast of the Epiphany on Friday, January 6.  This is one of the 7 principal feasts of the church and commemorates the coming of the Wise Men to see and pay homage to the baby Jesus.

There will be a Solemn Eucharist in St. Peter’s Church at 6pm with choir, followed by a Cajun Supper in the Parish Hall to which all are invited.  After supper we will take down the Christmas decorations.  Note that there will be incense used at the worship service.

NEW WOMENS BIBLE STUDY SERIES BEGINS SAT., JAN 14
A new Women's Bible Study Series begins on Saturday, January 14th at 8:30am. The group will be doing Priscilla Shier's study called "Breathe: Make Room For The Sabbath."  All are invited to join this group. Briefly, if you neglect time for tranquility, serenity, and repose, we limit our Christlikeness. If you are weary, worn out and exhausted, the concept of Sabbath will change your life. It is one of God's greatest gifts.  The study guide is $10.00, and it will be given out at the first study. Please contact Carolyn Jenkins for more information, or to sign up, email
cpatterj21@yahoo.com or call 410-742-7764.

BISHOP SANTOSH MARRAY TO VISIT JAN. 15
The first visitation of the new Bishop of Easton, the Rt. Rev. Santosh “San” Marray to St. Peter’s is Sunday, January 15. The Visitation of our Bishop is a highlight of our church year as Episcopalians.
Please make every effort to be at St. Peter’s on that Sunday so we can give our bishop a warm welcome.  Bishop San will preside at all three services that Sunday:  7:45am, 9:00am, and 11:00am.  He also wants to have a meeting and conversation with the entire parish assembled together, so we are planning a parish wide lunch with the bishop that Sunday at 12:30pm in the Parish Hall.  Please plan to come to the lunch and hear what our bishop has to say.  This is also an opportunity to ask the bishop questions and to engage in dialogue with him.

He will be confirming and receiving persons into the Episcopal Church at the 9:00am service.  Bishop San will also be meeting with our youth during the Sunday School hour in the second floor of the Parish Annex.  All youth from pre-K through high school are asked to be there at that time.
