Peter's Post

JOIN IN CHRISTMAS CAROLING THIS SUNDAY
St. Peter’s is renting a bus to take carolers from the church to many of our homebound parishioners to sing some Christmas carols and to deliver some good cheer.  Peter’s Voice will provide the music, and parishioners and families are invited to participate.  This is a parish-wide activity.  We’ll assemble in the Parish Hall Sunday afternoon, December 11, by 4pm and then be on our way – it will probably take three hours to visit everyone one the list.  Contact Laura McCarthy for more information.

HELP NEEDED:  This is a request from the Parish Caring Team for cookies, candy, rice krispie treats, cup cakes, etc. which will be packaged up to take with the carolers.  Even if you can’t make it out to carol, you can still help with some baked goods.  Please bring in your offering on that same Sunday (December 11th) and leave it in the library.  Later that day, the goodies will be divvyed up and packaged to take with the carolers that afternoon.  Thank you!

SPECIAL SCHEDULE FOR UPCOMING SUNDAYS
Note that in two Sundays – December 18 – the youth of the parish will present their Christmas Pageant “The Beginning” to the congregation at 9:30am downstairs in the Parish Hall.  This means that there will be only two worship services:  8am and 11am on Sunday, December 18, so plan to come to either the early service and then to the pageant, or to the pageant and then Holy Eucharist.

The Sunday following that is Christmas Day.  There will be only one service that morning, at 10am, along with the 5pm and 11pm Christmas Eve services Saturday evening.

This year New Year’s Day falls on a Sunday and it is also the Feast of the Holy Name.  For January 1 there will be just two services, at 8am and 10am.

CHRISTMAS OUTREACH MINISTRY FOR OUR PARTNER SCHOOL, WI-MIDDLE
There are many students in our partner school, Wi-Middle, and their families who are in need at this time of year.  St. Peter’s Outreach Committee is working with school staff to provide gift bags for these children.  As we did last year, the committee is collecting gift cards to help purchase items for the gift bags.  Families send the school an assessment of their needs, and gift bags are prepared, usually containing several pieces of coordinating clothing, socks, underwear, hats, gloves, etc. plus a gift item for each child.  These are then wrapped, bagged and tied with a ribbon.  It is required that a parent or guardian pick up this bag during the last week of school before the Christmas break.  Cards donated by parishioners help greatly with the shopping for these items.

The school has requested that we purchase these gift cards from their selected stores:  WALMART, KOHL’S or OLD NAVY, in the amount of your choice, but please note that amount on the back of the card.  There is a gift card poster in the parlor at coffee hour with envelopes where you can place your card. These will then be presented to the school to be used for their gift bags.  These cards need to be at the school by December 12 so please get them to the church by this Sunday.

Thank you for help in providing for children in need.

CHRISTIAN SHELTER IN NEED OF DONATIONS

LET’S HELP TENNESSEE
“I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,  I was naked and you gave me clothing.” Matt. 25:35-36

In the aftermath of the fire tragedy in the Gatlinburg area of Tennessee there is a great need for basic supplies for those affected by the disaster.  H & M Bay Trucking Company based in Hurlock, Maryland is arranging for trucks to deliver relief supplies to affected families.  In the Salisbury area, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church is joining with Provident State Bank to collect donations and transport them to Hurlock.

Donations may be dropped off either at St. Peter’s or the Provident State Bank regional loan office at 1409 S. Salisbury Blvd. (next to Jersey Mike’s) before Friday, December 16, and they will be taken to Hurlock.

Donations may brought to church on Sunday and placed in the Donation Box at coffee hour. Donations may also be brought to the Parish House door during Office Hours 9am to 4pm Monday through Friday or to Provident State Bank’s local loan office between 9am and 3pm.

Items needed include energy snacks, non-perishable food, personal care items, diapers, linens, bedding, pet food, pet bedding.
Thank you for your generosity.
