PRAYER FOR OUR PRESIDENT-ELECT
This coming Sunday after the election we will be praying for our country and those elected to office.  Below is a prayer for our president-elect:

We pray for Donald, our president elect, that he will lead our country with strength and compassion; that he may represent the very best of the United States around the globe; that he may be committed to justice and peace, and bring our nation together to address our challenges. Amen.

PRAYER FOR VETERANS DAY
This Friday is Veterans Day, when we honor those who have served this nation in our Armed Forces.  Here is a Prayer of Thanksgiving for Heroic Service:

O Judge of the nations, we remember before you with grateful hearts the men and women of our country who in the day of decision ventured much for the liberties we now enjoy. Grant that we may not rest until all the people of this land share the benefits of true freedom and gladly accept its disciplines. This we ask in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (BCP p. 839)

FULL CHURCH FOR FRIDAY EVENSONG
More than 160 people attended Evensong last Friday evening at St. Peter’s, featuring the Maryland State Boychoir.  The touring group had a magnificent performance as the choir for the service, and then performed a small concert to the delight of the congregation.  Thank you to everyone who helped make this such a success, and for those families who gave members of the choir a place to stay and meals the next day.

FALL ALL PARISH CLEAN UP DAY THIS SATURDAY
All parishioners are asked to come to St. Peter’s Saturday morning, November 12, and help with cleaning and maintenance tasks in our buildings and grounds.  This is a great opportunity to come together for good stewardship in caring for that which we have been entrusted. We’ll begin the day with Morning Prayer at 8:30am in the church and then proceed with working in various places from 9am until 12noon.  Many hands make light work and there is a job for everyone.

Note that there is a race occurring Saturday morning in downtown, and a barrier will be set up at the foot of Church Street at Mill Street.  Race organizers have made arrangements so that parishioners who are going to the church should be able to gain access to that barrier by identifying themselves as members of St. Peter’s and they will let you through.

Please join in our fall all parish clean up.  Contact Property Committee Chair Amy Maull for more information:
acmaull@comcast.net.

DAILY PRAYER TO CHANGE ON FRIDAYS
Father David has announced that this Friday, November 11, will be the final 8:30am Morning Prayer on Fridays at St. Peter’s Church.  Instead, beginning Friday, November 18, there will be Evening Prayer – Rite I held every Friday at 5:30pm in the church.  This will be offered for the next couple of months and the Worship Committee will evaluate how this change is working.  Consider ending your week by coming to Evening Prayer on Fridays.  With this change Evening Prayer will be offered at 5:30pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays every week.  Morning Prayer will continue to be offered Mondays at 9:30am and Saturdays at 8:30am.

STEWARDSHIP: ANNUAL GIVING CAMPAIGN UPDATE
As of Monday, 84 Pledge Cards have been received totaling $213,168.  Thank you to everyone who has turned in a pledge card in support of the ministries of St. Peter’s.  There are still many pledge cards that have not been received – if you haven’t filled out your card yet, please prayerfully consider a pledge to St. Peter’s to help us do God’s work in the world.  Turn in your pledge card this Sunday at worship or send it to the Parish Office to the attention of the Stewardship Committee Chair.  Help us reach our goal of 120 pledges this year.  Thank you.

BAPTISM THIS SUNDAY
This Sunday, November 13, at the 11am worship service we will celebrate the Baptism of Mira Mullen, daughter of Hilarie and Craig Mullen, and granddaughter of Jeanne and Gene Dobbs, who are recent newcomers to St. Peter’s.  Please keep Mira in your prayers this week as child and parents prepare for this sacrament of Holy Baptism.

NOV. 20 IS CHILDREN’S HOME FOUNDATION SUNDAY
The Children’s Home Foundation is an exciting program in our diocese that offers scholarships and camperships to children on the Eastern Shore.  It is a powerful and effective Episcopal outreach program where lives are being changed as young people, who would not otherwise have the funds to do so, are studying to begin careers….all due to your generosity during the annual Thanksgiving Appeal, which is occurring this month.
Sunday, November 20, has been designated “Children’s Home Foundation Sunday,” and there will be short presentations during announcements at our worship services about the work of this organization.  Will Burdette will speak at 9am about his experience at Camp Wright thanks to a campership award from the Children’s Home Foundation, and  St. Peter’s representatives on the Foundation board, Ann Allen and Lynne Peverley, will provide information at the other worship services.
Donation envelopes will be available at the church on November 20.  Thank you for your support of this important ministry in the Diocese of Easton.

PRE-THANKSGIVING BAKE SALE NOV 20
The Trailblazers Youth Group will be holding a bake sale on November 20, the Sunday before Thanksgiving, at coffee hour.  Pick up all your baked goods just in time for Thanksgiving and help the Trailblazers raise money for the Youth Fund.

UPCOMING SPIRITUAL WORKSHOP
The Diocese of Easton’s Retreat House in Hillsboro, Maryland is hosting a spiritual workshop in November that is open to all parishioners:

A Deep Dive into the Gospel of Matthew, November 14, at 9:00 am: you are invited to a morning of study and inspiration, with an eye toward the preaching that beckons in the year ahead.

For additional information about the event and how to register, visit the Retreat House website:

NEW PARISH PRAYER LIST IN ADVENT
From time to time we review our Parish Prayer List to make sure that the individuals we are praying for continue to need our prayers.  As we begin a new church year on the First Sunday of Advent, November 27, we will also publish a new parish prayer list.  The parish prayer list is published every week in the Sunday bulletin announcements insert and in Peter’s Post.  If you have a name on the existing prayer list that you would like the parish to continue to pray for in the new parish prayer list, please contact Cathy Parsons in the Parish Office by Monday, November 21 with the name(s) you wish to have included in the new parish prayer list
cathyp@stpeterschurch.net.  Thank you.
