HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
 Collect for Thanksgiving Day
Almighty and gracious Father, we give you thanks for the fruits of the earth in their season and for the labors of those who harvest them. Make us, we pray, faithful stewards of your great bounty, for the provision of our necessities and the relief of all who are in need, to the glory of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Come Worship on Thanksgiving:  Tomorrow, on Thanksgiving morning, there will be a service of Holy Eucharist at St. Peter’s Church at 10:00am. Begin your Thanksgiving Day giving thanks and praise to God in worship and song. We will say prayers of thanksgiving, including the Litany of Thanksgiving, hear inspiring Scriptures and celebrate Holy Communion.   Join in singing traditional Thanksgiving hymns with choir and organ.   St. Peter’s Choir will sing John Rutter’s, For the Beauty of the Earth; Ann Allen, Soprano, will sing, A Grateful Heart (by Mary Plumstead), and Bob Souza, Bass, will sing, Bless This House O Lord We Pray (by May Brahe).  Robert Young is our organist and Ron Davis is the guest musician on Trumpet. Experience a wonderful and meaningful service – and invite friends and family to join you.

OFFICE CLOSED
The Parish Office will be closed Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving Holiday.

CHRISTMAS OUTREACH MINISTRY FOR OUR PARTNER SCHOOL, WI-MIDDLE
There are many students in our partner school, Wi-Middle, and their families who are in need at this time of year.  St. Peter’s Outreach Committee is working with school staff to provide gift bags for these children.  As we did last year, the committee is collecting gift cards to help purchase items for the gift bags.  Families send the school an assessment of their needs, and gift bags are prepared, usually containing several pieces of coordinating clothing, socks, underwear, hats, gloves, etc. plus a gift item for each child.  These are then wrapped, bagged and tied with a ribbon.  It is required that a parent or guardian pick up this bag during the last week of school before the Christmas break.  Cards donated by parishioners help greatly with the shopping for these items.

The school has requested that we purchase these gift cards from their selected stores:  WALMART, KOHL’S or OLD NAVY, in the amount of your choice, but please note that amount on the back of the card.  There is a gift card poster in the parlor at coffee hour with envelopes where you can place your card. These will then be presented to the school to be used for their gift bags.  These cards need to be at the school by December 12 so please get them to the church by Sunday DECEMBER 11.

Thank you for help in providing for children in need.

ADVENT BEGINS THIS SUNDAY
A new church year begins this Sunday with the First Sunday of Advent.  Advent lasts until Christmas Eve. Advent is a season of preparation and anticipation.  It is distinct from the Season of Christmas  -- during Christmas we emphasize God’s Incarnation.  Advent instead is about waiting and anticipating Christ coming again – it is when we as the church look forward into the future and prepare for Christ’s second coming.  We are using a deep blue now as our vestments for the season, a reminder of the deep blue pre-dawn morning sky anticipating the rise of the sun.  Advent is a Latin word for “coming.”

ADVENT QUIET DAY WITH BISHOP MARRAY
You are invited to participate in an Advent Quiet Day with our Bishop, Santosh Marray, entitled: A Window with a View:  Hope of New Beginnings in Times of Despair, on Tuesday, November 29, 2016.  The Advent Quiet Day will take place at the Diocese of Easton’s Retreat House at St. Paul’s Hillsboro, 22005 Church Street, Hillsboro, MD.  Registration is at 9am; opening Eucharist begins at 9:30am and the retreat concludes at 3pm.  Suggested donation is $40 a person.  RSVP: Register online at
hmarray.eventbrite.com or contact Francie at info@retreathousehillsboro.org or (410) 364-7042.

CHRISTMAS FLOWERS AND GREENS
This Sunday there will be an insert in the worship bulletins for Christmas Flowers.  Forms and donations must be received by December 18.  Flower and greens donations may be made in memory or in honor of loved ones.  Forms are also available from the Parish Office.

STEWARDSHIP: ANNUAL GIVING CAMPAIGN UPDATE
As of Monday, 95 Pledge Cards have been received totaling $243,528.  Thank you to everyone who has already turned in a pledge card in support of the ministries of St. Peter’s.  Pledging is how the Vestry is able to anticipate how much income the church will receive next year as they work now to prepare the budget for 2017.  As such, it is important that all pledge cards are returned by NOVEMBER 27, 2016  If you haven’t filled out your card yet, please prayerfully consider a pledge to St. Peter’s to help us do God’s work in the world.  Turn in your pledge card this Sunday at worship or send it to the Parish Office to the attention of the Stewardship Committee Chair.  Help us reach our goal of 120 pledges this year.  Additional Pledge cards are available at the church entrances and from the Parish Office.  Thank you.
