NOV. 20 IS CHILDREN’S HOME FOUNDATION SUNDAY
The Children’s Home Foundation is an exciting program in our diocese that offers scholarships and camperships to children on the Eastern Shore. It is a powerful and effective Episcopal outreach program where lives are being changed as young people, who would not otherwise have the funds to do so, are studying to begin careers….all due to your generosity during the annual Thanksgiving Appeal, which is occurring this month.
This Sunday, November 20, has been designated “Children’s Home Foundation Sunday,” and there will be short presentations during announcements at our worship services about the work of this organization. Will Burdette will speak at 9am about his experience at Camp Wright thanks to a campership award from the Children’s Home Foundation, and St. Peter’s representatives on the Foundation board, Ann Allen and Lynne Peverley, will provide information at the other worship services.
Donation envelopes will be available at the church on Sunday. Thank you for your support of this important ministry in the Diocese of Easton.
NOVEMBER THIRD FRIDAY THEME: HOLIDAY BAZAAR
This Friday is Third Friday Downtown and St. Peter’s will present: “Pray! Eat! Sing!” beginning with Evening Prayer at 5:30pm in the Church, tours of the church from 5pm -7pm, delicious chili, cornbread burgers and dogs served up in the courtyard, plus Peter’s Voice will be singing some holiday classics in the courtyard at 7pm. Come and invite others to St. Peter’s for our last Third Friday event of the season. Contact Linda Hurley for more information or if you are able to help volunteer: firstname.lastname@example.org.
ADVENT QUIET DAY WITH BISHOP MARRAY
You are invited to participate in an Advent Quiet Day with our Bishop, Santosh Marray, entitled: A Window with a View: Hope of New Beginnings in Times of Despair, on Tuesday, November 29, 2016.
Advent is a time of waiting, often experienced as a time of deepening darkness with shorter days and longer nights. And yet there are rays of hope hidden in the folds of the weeks of Advent. Bishop Santosh will invite us into a journey to discover the hope and light in this season. Worship, prayer, silence, conversation and lunch are all part of the plan for the day’s program. Come join us and discover your window with a view. Bishop Santosh Marray is recently established as the XI Bishop of Easton. Formerly the Assistant Bishop of Alabama, he has lived and worked all over the world, sharing God’s Love in East Carolina, The Seychelles, Florida, the Bahamas and Guyana. He is happy to be here in Easton, delighted to call it “home.”
The Advent Quiet Day will take place at the Diocese of Easton’s Retreat House at St. Paul’s Hillsboro, 22005 Church Street, Hillsboro, MD. Registration is at 9am; opening Eucharist begins at 9:30am and the retreat concludes at 3pm. Suggested donation is $40 a person. RSVP: Register online at hmarray.eventbrite.com or contact Francie at email@example.com or (410) 364-7042.
COME WORSHIP THIS THANKSGIVING
On Thanksgiving Day next week, there will be a service of Holy Eucharist at St. Peter’s Church. Begin your Thanksgiving Day giving thanks and praise to God in worship and song. We will say prayers of thanksgiving, including the Litany of Thanksgiving, hear inspiring Scriptures and celebrate Holy Communion. Join in singing traditional Thanksgiving hymns with choir and organ. St. Peter’s Choir will sing John Rutter’s, For the Beauty of the Earth; Ann Allen, Soprano, will sing, A Grateful Heart (by Mary Plumstead), and Bob Souza, Bass, will sing, Bless This House O Lord We Pray (by May Brahe). Robert Young is our organist and Ron Davis is the guest musician on Trumpet. Experience a wonderful and meaningful way to begin your Thanksgiving holiday – and invite friends and family to join you.
STEWARDSHIP: ANNUAL GIVING CAMPAIGN UPDATE
As of Monday, 89 Pledge Cards have been received totaling $232,808. Thank you to everyone who has already turned in a pledge card in support of the ministries of St. Peter’s. Pledging is how the Vestry is able to anticipate how much income the church will receive next year as they work now to prepare the budget for 2017. As such, it is important that all pledge cards are returned by NOVEMBER 27, 2016 If you haven’t filled out your card yet, please prayerfully consider a pledge to St. Peter’s to help us do God’s work in the world. Turn in your pledge card this Sunday at worship or send it to the Parish Office to the attention of the Stewardship Committee Chair. Help us reach our goal of 120 pledges this year. Additional Pledge cards are available at the church entrances and from the Parish Office. Thank you.
ALL PARISH CLEAN UP DAY A SUCCESS
Thank you to everyone who participated in last Saturday’s fall clean up day. About 30 parishioners came to help with many projects in our buildings and grounds. Thank you to Property Committee Chair Amy Maull and all who helped make this a success.
Thank you to everyone who persevered with the race going on simultaneously that morning – we did not receive the cooperation we were promised from race officials which created some access problems.
These concerns are being raised by your parish leadership with the organizers of the event.
PRE-THANKSGIVING BAKE SALE NOV 20
The Trailblazers Youth Group will be holding a bake sale this Sunday, which is the Sunday before Thanksgiving, at coffee hour. Pick up all your baked goods just in time for Thanksgiving and help the Trailblazers raise money for the Youth Fund.
DAILY PRAYER TO CHANGE ON FRIDAYS
Beginning this Friday, November 18, there will be Evening Prayer – Rite I held every Friday at 5:30pm in the church. This will be offered for the next couple of months and the Worship Committee will evaluate how this change is working. Consider ending your week by coming to Evening Prayer on Fridays. With this change Evening Prayer will be offered at 5:30pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays every week. Morning Prayer will continue to be offered Mondays at 9:30am and Saturdays at 8:30am.

NEW PARISH PRAYER LIST IN ADVENT
From time to time we review our Parish Prayer List to make sure that the individuals we are praying for continue to need our prayers. As we begin a new church year on the First Sunday of Advent, November 27, we will also publish a new parish prayer list. The parish prayer list is published every week in the Sunday bulletin announcements insert and in Peter’s Post. If you have a name on the existing prayer list that you would like the parish to continue to pray for in the new parish prayer list, please contact Cathy Parsons in the Parish Office by Monday, November 21 with the name(s) you wish to have included in the new parish prayer list: firstname.lastname@example.org.
