THANK YOU GOD
I will thank you forever, because of what you have done. In the presence of the faithful I will proclaim your name, for it is good. Psalm 52:9
This Sunday, in gratitude for all God has given to us, we will say “thank you” to God on Stewardship Thanksgiving Sunday. At all three worship services there will be an opportunity for parishioners to place their 2017 Pledge Cards on the altar as a symbol of our gratefulness to God and our support for all the work and ministries done in the name of God at St. Peter’s Church.
It is up to us to continue to support the good work of this church and to consider increasing what we give so that new and exciting ministry initiatives can be begun in 2017. Every pledge is important. Every pledge is needed to keep St. Peter’s growing and thriving. Additional pledge cards will be available in the church. Thank you for your pledge to St. Peter’s.
Prayer for the Right Use of God’s Gifts
Almighty God, whose loving hand hath given us all that we possess: Grant us grace that we may honor thee with our substance, and, remembering the account which we must one day give, may be faithful stewards of thy bounty, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. BCP p. 827
THIS SUNDAY IS YOUTH SUNDAY
The youth of our parish will be taking on many of the worship responsibilities for the 9am worship service this coming Sunday. They have also made hymns suggestions for that service and have written the Prayers of the People. Let us support and thank our young people for their involvement in the worship life of our parish.
EVENSONG WITH MD STATE BOYCHOIR IS JUST 9 DAYS AWAY!
A service of Evensong with the Maryland State Boychoir as the choir for the service will be held Friday, November 4 at 7:30pm in St. Peter’s Church, with a small concert by the Boychoir to follow. Evensong is part of the Episcopal Church’s discipline of Daily Prayer and is an important part of our Anglican choral heritage. This is the fourth year in a row that the Maryland State Boychoir has come to St. Peter’s and the third Evensong in which they have participated. If you have been part of this service in years past, you know how wonderful they are – and if this is your first time, prepare to be moved and spiritually delighted.
There is no charge for this event and the public is invited. Please spread the word and encourage friends and family to come to Evensong. An offering will be taken up during the service to go toward the Boychoir’s expenses and training. For more information, contact Brittany Spicer email@example.com.
CHRISTMAS PAGEANT PRACTICE BEGINS THIS SUNDAY
There will be an initial practice for the Christmas Pageant after Sunday School this Sunday around 11am in the Parish Annex for all children and youth. We are doing a new play this year and the parts of the play will be reviewed and handed out to those present. Parents: please plan to have your children at this rehearsal. Contact Brittany Spicer at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
ALL SAINTS SUNDAY: REMEMBERING LOVED ONES
Once again this year Father David will read the names of loved ones who have gone before us as saints triumphant at the altar during the All Saints Sunday worship services on November 6. This Sunday, October 30, is the last opportunity to fill out and turn in the All Saints In Memoriam form with the names of your loved ones. Remember to please print legibly.
ALL SAINTS MUSIC AT 11AM
At the 11:00am worship service on All Saints Sunday, November 6, St. Peter’s Choir will be singing John Rutter’s When the Saints Go Marching In, and Beautiful River with Sharon Clark, Soprano, sharing the aria from the Oratorio, Elijah, by Felix Mendelssohn: Then Shall the Righteous Shine Forth. Guest Musicians Ken Farley, Clarinet, and, Kurt Ludwig, Trombone.

UPCOMING SPIRITUAL WORKSHOPS
The Diocese of Easton’s Retreat House in Hillsboro, Maryland is hosting two spiritual workshops in November that are open to all parishioners:
Spiritual Transformation: Crossing the Threshold into Life’s Second Half: Thursday, November 10, 2016, 9:00 am: During this retreat we will explore the challenge of being at this critical threshold event and how the Spirit companions and transforms us. We will set out on a new spiritual path akin to Robert Frost’s less traveled road that can make all the difference.
A Deep Dive into the Gospel of Matthew, November 14, at 9:00 am: you are invited to a morning of study and inspiration, with an eye toward the preaching that beckons in the year ahead.
For additional information about each event and how to register, visit the Retreat House website: http://retreathousehillsboro.org/.
