NIVEK JOHNSON IS OUR NEW YOUTH MINISTRIES INTERN
Father David Michaud has announced that he has hired Nivek Johnson as St. Peter’s new part time Youth Ministries Intern. Nivek will be supporting our Youth Ministries, including Sunday School, Youth Group, and other exciting programs and activities for youth and families. He is an education major at Salisbury University and has just completed a summer as a religious instruction leader at the Diocese of Easton’s Camp Wright.
Nivek will be attending the 10am worship service this Sunday at St. Peter’s where he will be introduced to the congregation and will be at the coffee hour afterwards. Please plan to say hello and give him a warm welcome.
LAST SUNDAY FOR SUMMER SCHEDULE
This Sunday is the last Sunday for our summer worship schedule of 8am and 10am Holy Eucharist services. Beginning in two Sundays, September 13, we return to our regular schedule: 7:45am, 9:00am and 11:00am. Please note on your calendars! Also, beginning on September 14, we will begin to hold Daily Prayer in the church.
ADULT ED. SERIES ON “MARRIAGE TODAY” BEGINS ON TUESDAY
The Fall Tuesday evening Adult Education Series begins this Tuesday, September 8, in the Parish Hall and will run for six sessions. The topic is “Marriage Today.” Potluck dinner is at 6pm – come and bring a dish to share. The hour long class will begin aft 6:40pm. All are welcome to attend.
Marriage as an institution is changing. More young people are opting not to be married. Same sex marriage is permitted in the Episcopal Church. Much has been written and debated about marriage from theological, historical, and sociological perspectives, and it was one of the top issues for debate at this summer’s General Convention of the Episcopal Church. In this series we will study materials developed on marriage by the Task Force for the Study of Marriage and seek to understand the many arguments and issues surrounding marriage in the 21st century. For more information on the topics in the series go to http://www.stpeterschurch.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Marriage-Today-Program.pdf.
CHILDREN’S CHOIR INTEREST MEETING TOMORROW
Children’s Choir Director Calvin Collins will lead a Children’s Choir Interest Meeting for all who would like to be a part of this effort or would like to know more information tomorrow, Thursday, September 3rd at 6:30 PM in the Children’s Choir Room on the second floor of the Parish House. There will be light refreshments served after the meeting.
MINISTRY FAIR SEPTEMBER 13
This year there are even more ministries and happenings planned at St. Peter’s, and the Fall Ministry Fair is your chance to experience everything that is happening at your parish, and find out how you can use your time and talents in service to Our Lord and his church. This is also the time to register for Sunday School and Youth Group, and there is a special Youth Corner planned just for youth.
The fair will go on Sunday morning from 8:30am to 11:00am and coffee and refreshments will be served downstairs at the fair. Plan to make some time before or after the service to come to the Ministry Fair on September 13.
A reminder to committee chairs and ministry leaders: Please let Cathy Parsons know by this Friday if you will need a table reserved for your ministry at the fair: email@example.com.
The Parish Office is closed this Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. The Comforters Group will not meet on that Monday.
