MD STATE BOYCHOIR SINGING AT EVENSONG, IN NEED OF LODGING

The Maryland State Boychoir is once again coming to St. Peter’s on Friday, November 6 at 7:30pm to be the choir for our service of Evensong and then to present a small concert after the service.

We are in need of volunteers who would be able to provide lodging in their homes Friday night for some of the members of the choir and provide breakfast and a bag lunch for them the next day.  We have heard from previous host families that it was an outstanding experience and privilege to have these talented and courteous young men in their homes.  If you are willing to help or would like more information, please contact Music Director Bruce Horner directly at
intunerbh@gmail.com. Thank you for your ministry of hospitality.

COMING IN THE MAIL NEXT WEEK…

Look for your 2016 Pledge Card in the mail next week to support the work and ministries of St. Peter’s Church.

SUNDAY SERVICES

With the potential of Hurricane Joaquin coming ashore this weekend, it may have an effect on worship services this Sunday.  Only if Salisbury is put under an official state of emergency and people are not allowed on the roads Sunday morning will there not be services.  Otherwise, services will be held, but please, use your best judgement as to whether or not you are able to travel safely to church.  Should Salisbury be in the direct path of the storm, please make the necessary preparations and look in on fellow parishioners to make sure they are safe too.  For more information on hurricane preparedness, go to the Wicomico County Emergency Services website:
http://www.wicomicocounty.org/133/Emergency-Services.

ST. FRANCIS DAY BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS OCT 4

October 4 is the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, known for his affection and appreciation for all of God’s creatures.  In honor of St. Francis, a Blessing of the Animals is scheduled for Sunday at 4pm in the Courtyard.  All animals and their companions are welcome.  Note: depending on the severity of the weather, this event might have to be cancelled – if so, an announcement of this will be made Sunday morning and on the parish website.

A CHEERFUL NOTE FROM THE CHILDREN’S CHOIR DIRECTOR

We practiced last week for the service on October 18th and the children are learning musically and having fun too! If you would like to provide snacks for a rehearsal, please contact Bruce Horner or me. Thank you for your support in this ministry.

OKTOBERFEST CAFÉ NIGHT SUNDAY, OCT. 4: RAINDATE OCT. 11

Come support the Trailblazers as they raise money for their many activities this year by attending the Oktoberfest Café Night this Sunday, October 4 in the Parish Hall from 5 to 7pm.  All are welcome – bring your friends and extended family along. Lots of good German food and a great opportunity to be with fellow parishioners and friends.  Suggested donation of $10 adults; $5 youth.  All donations welcomed in support of the Trailblazers.  NOTE:  The dinner coordinators are monitoring the progress of Hurricane Juaquin – if the weather appears to be hazardous on Sunday evening, the Café Night will be postponed until the following Sunday, October 11.  An all parish email will be sent out prior to the event and a notice will be placed on the parish website.

THIRD FRIDAY OCTOBER: SHERWOOD FOREST

The theme for October for Salisbury’s Third Friday Downtown is “Comicon” and St. Peter’s is transforming our courtyard into Sherwood Forest with activities for children, and brats and hot dogs for sale.  More details to come.  Let Linda Hurley know if you are able to help with this event on October 16 from 5-8pm:
linda.hurley@comcast.net.

ADULT ED. SERIES ON “MARRIAGE TODAY” CONTINUES TUESDAY

This Tuesday the series will look at changes to the church’s Marriage Canons made this summer by the General Convention. We will also look at the three Marriage Liturgies that will be available for use in the church beginning the first Sunday of Advent.   Meet in the Parish Hall. Potluck dinner is at 6pm – come and bring a dish to share; class begins at 6:40pm.  More information on the series can be found on the parish website, including handouts from the previous sessions:
http://www.stpeterschurch.net/adult-education-series/. All are welcome.

ACOLYTE TRAINING THIS SUNDAY

Training for new acolytes is scheduled after the 9am service this Sunday.  High school youth are eligible to serve as Acolytes.  All youth interested in being trained must attend this training before they can be put on the server schedule.  Acolytes should be confirmed, but if a high schooler is interested and hasn’t yet been confirmed, see the Rector for possible inclusion since there is no youth confirmation class this year (one is planned for 2016).
