ANNUAL PARISH MEETING AND PARISH BREAKFAST THIS SUNDAY

St. Peter’s Annual Parish Meeting will be held this Sunday, April 10, at 9:30am in the Parish Hall. All members of the parish are asked to be in attendance.  The meeting will be preceded by an all parish breakfast in the Parish Hall, from 8:50am until 9:30am, organized by the Fellowship and Hospitality Committee and assisted by St. Peter’s Trailblazers Youth Group.

Because of the Annual Meeting there will be two worship services this Sunday:  745am and 11am. Child Care will be provided upstairs during the Annual Meeting and for the 11am worship service.

At the meeting, there will be elections for Vestry and Delegates and Alternates to the 2017 Diocesan Convention, reports from the Treasurer, Senior Warden and Rector, presentation of the 2016 Parish Budget, and presentations of appreciation for those completing their terms of service.  A packet with reports from the various committees and ministries will be available for attendees as well.

The Nominees for Vestry are:  Ann Allen, Nancy Burdett, Rich Stover, Phil Shields; and the candidates nominated as 2017 Delegates to Diocesan Conventions are: Atif Gaddis, Linda Hurley, and Laura McCarthy.  Nominations for these positions may also be made from the floor.

COMING UP:  ST. PETER’S PLANT AND FLOWER SALE – THIRD FRIDAY APRIL 15

Salisbury’s Third Friday Downtown events are proving to be a valuable way for us to engage in evangelism, bringing new people into our church and letting them know about what we are doing at St. Peter’s.

The new “Third Friday Downtown” season kicks off on Friday, April 15 from 5pm to 8pm with the theme “Planet Earth” and St. Peter’s is participating in a number of ways:  we will host the St. Peter’s Plant and Flower Sale in the courtyard with all proceeds to go to the Altar Guild Fund; the children’s activity will be planting seeds to take home with them; members of the Altar Guild will be doing flower arranging demonstrations in the church; and we’re grilling and selling hot dogs and drinks in the courtyard.

Please come and support St. Peter’s and invite friends and neighbors to stop by the church and courtyard as well.  Why not join in the fun and help  volunteer – we would love to have your participation!  Contact Linda Hurley for more details and if you’re interested in lending a hand:  linda.hurley@comcast.net.  Or contact the Parish Office: 410-742-5118.

UTO INGATHERING – BLUE MITE BOXES

From this past Sunday’s UTO Ingathering we have received more than $260 in donations (that’s a lot of coins!).  Thank you to everyone who turned in their UTO blue mite boxes.  These boxes are being accepted through the last Sunday of April, so you can still bring yours to church and participate in this Ingathering.

ST. PETER’S YARD SALE:  SAVE THE DATE AND SAVE YOUR STUFF!

Spring Cleaning or redecorating?  We need your stuff!
St. Peters will be hosting an indoor/outdoor yard sale on Friday and Saturday, May 20 and 21 in St. Peter’s Courtyard and Parish Hall, rain or shine.  This is our major fundraiser for the year to help us meet our operational expenses.  Your help is needed and appreciated!

Items needed:
  • Gently used small furniture, household items & décor, tools, lamps, vacuum cleaners, art work, etc.
  • Clothing is limited to barely worn coats and boots only
  • Children’s items & gently used toys
  • Electronics will be limited to flat screen televisions
Hold on to your items now.  The Parish Hall will be opened for drop-off beginning Sunday, May 15 and through the week of the sale. If you need help with larger items, please contact the Church office with information.

For information or to volunteer to help, please call Linda Abbott:  410- 341-4899.  There will be a meeting of the Yard Sale Committee on Thursday, April 21 at 5:30pm in the Parish Annex Conference Room.  All who are interested in helping with the sale are welcomed to attend.

LAST CHANCE TO SIGN-UP FOR PARISH DIRECTORY

The last chance to sign up to have your picture taken for the new Church Pictorial Directory is this Sunday at the Annual Meeting.  A few slots remain for next week. If you are unable to sign up this Sunday, please call or email Carole DiPietro (410.749.4364) or cdipietro208@comcast.net to make your appointment.  If you are not available for a photo session on the currently scheduled dates, please sign up for a make up session to be scheduled in May.

VOLUNTEERS are needed during the picture taking sessions to man the door nearest the parish parking lot to allow entrance into the Parish Hall after the church office is closed.   You may sign up at the Annual Meeting or contact Carole DiPietro.

THANK YOU to those who have scheduled appointments or signed up for the make up session and to those who have volunteered to greet parishioners at the door.  This is a project that allows us to use our time and talent toward a good cause and receive FREE STUFF.  We want you to be included in the directory.  Thank you also to Jim Ritch, our photographer and fellow parishioner.

FATHER DAVID ON RETREAT NEXT WEEK

Our Rector, Father David Michaud, leaves this Monday for an eight day CREDO Retreat for clergy sponsored by the Church Pension Fund.  He returns to the office on Wednesday, April 20.  Should there be a pastoral emergency or church business that needs immediate attention, please contact the Wardens during his absence.

Services while Rector is away:  Please note that next Wednesday, April 13 Deacon Buddy Murray will preside at the Noonday Public Service of Healing; Father Ken Thom will be the guest celebrant at the April 17 Sunday services.  Please keep Father David in your prayers as he prepares and travels to this retreat.

CHILDREN'S CHOIR REHEARSAL TIME CHANGE

Beginning this Sunday, the Children's Choir will be rehearsing Sundays at 3pm in the Children's Choir room in the Parish House.  New members are always welcome.  Contact Children's Choir Director Calvin Collins for information.

DVD OF BRUCE HORNER’S FUNERAL NOW AVAILABLE IN PARISH LIBRARY

At Sallie Horner’s request, parishioner John Sharpe videotaped and edited a marvelous keepsake video of Bruce Horner’s funeral service.

Thoughtfully, he made a copy for the use of St. Peter’s Church.  It is now stored in the Parish Library and you may take it for viewing by signing your name and the date taken in the book provided.  Please note the returned date also in the book.

You will find the DVD, with Bruce’s photo on the front, and the brown book on the shelf with the Reeves cd collection.

REMEMBERING ST. PETER’S

Have you remembered St. Peter’s in your will or estate plan?  Contact your professional advisor and ask how a bequest or planned gift to St. Peter’s can benefit the church you love in perpetuity.  A message from St. Peter’s Planned Giving Committee.
