Your weekly update as to what's happening at St. Peter's Church.

Peter's Post

The Maryland State Boychoir will be in Concert this Friday, November 8 at 7:30 PM, in the church. Please plan to attend and invite friends, family and neighbors to attend as well.  This is not only a great opportunity to hear a first class choral program, but to also bring new visitors to St. Peter’s.
Admission is free; and a freewill offering will be taken to defer costs.
The Fellowship and Hospitality Committee is organizing a dinner for the boys prior to the concert, and nine families in the parish have volunteered to provide housing for choir members that evening.  Thank you so much for your hospitality!

Growing a Church/Community Choral Program for Kids Workshop this Saturday, November 9th at 9:30 AM

The Boychoir Artistic Director, Stephen Holmes, will present a Saturday morning discussion, Growing a Church/Community Choral Program for Kids (not just boys), at 9:30 AM in the church. It is targeted to participants of all ages who would like to see boys and girls of the greater Salisbury community have similar opportunity to learn and make beautiful music. Admission is free, and open to persons all ages who have interest and wish to learn more about strategies to implement such a vision in their realms of influence, possibly for us at St. Peter’s. Catch the vision!
All Saints Day a Wonderful Celebration

There was a wonderful turn out for St Peter’s Parish Dinner and Worship on All Saints Day, this past Friday, November 1.  Thank you to all who participated and who helped make the dinner and worship a success.  Bishop James “Bud” Shand made his annual visitation to the church on that day.  Seventy people attended the dinner, and about 100 people participated in the evening worship service.  Bishop Shand preached and presided at the service.  Oakley Power and Thomas Tyndall were baptized as the church’s newest saints. A list of loved ones who have gone before us was read and remembered at the altar during the service.  And the Festival Choir and Peter’s Voices provided music.  It was a grand way to celebrate one of the church’s Principal Feasts.
Have you sent in your pledge card?  Your pledge is critical!

We are in our second week since Stewardship Thanksgiving Sunday and we have now received 90 pledge cards for a total so far of $210,000 pledged for 2014.  Thank you for your pledge – the additional pledge cards turned in this past week continue the good momentum of our annual giving campaign.  Over 60 households have now increased their pledge from last year.
Additional pledges are still needed to fully fund our parish’s ministries and operations for next year.  If you have not yet sent in your pledge card, please prayerfully consider declaring your support for St. Peter’s by placing your signed pledge for in the offering plate this Sunday, or delivering it to the Parish office.  Blank pledge cards are available in church, from the Parish office, and at the Stewardship page of the parish website:
Thank you for your generosity.
Have you seen the new Tracts?

The Episcopal Church has a long history in the development and distribution of small publications called “tracts” dealing with specific topics, from theology to pastoral care, from church history to explanation of different rites and liturgies, from dealing with death to exploring spirituality.  Did you know that St. Peter’s has three “tract racks” containing a variety of tracts, many from Forward Day by Day?  The newest rack is in the hallway outside the Parlor, which is very handy to look through during coffee hour on Sundays.  Additional tract racks are located in the tower room church entrance and the Parish House entrance by the elevator.  These publications are available for your use as parishioners as part of St. Peter’s education ministries.  New tracts will be rotated in on a regular basis, so check the racks every so often and take home any that interest you.
Parking Lot Closed for Resurfacing Nov. 18-19
The church parking lot behind the church building will be closed Monday Nov. 18 and Tuesday Nov. 19 for resurfacing.  Staff, volunteers and visitors will have to make alternate parking arrangements on those days.  We apologize for the inconvenience.
