Peter's Post

TRINITY SUNDAY IS THIS SUNDAY
The first Sunday after Pentecost is designated as Trinity Sunday and is one of the 7 principal feasts of the church year.  This feast which we observe this Sunday celebrates “the one and equal glory” of Father, Son and Holy Spirit, “in Trinity of Persons and Unity of Being” (BCP, p. 380).  The Western Church has been celebrating Trinity Sunday since 1334.
Note on service times:  We will go to our summer schedule of two services beginning on Sunday, June 5.

REMEMBERING ON MEMORIAL DAY
St. Peter’s will have a Memorial Day service of Holy Eucharist at 8:30am on Monday, May 30.  We will be remembering those who have died in service to their country at the altar on that day.  If you would like the names of loved ones included, fill out a Memorial Day form in church this Sunday and place it in the almsbasin.

YARD SALE THIS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY
Donate Items
You can continue donate items today and tomorrow from 4pm to 7pm in the Parish Hall.  There are parking spaces reserved in the Parish parking lot for unloading.  Thanks to everyone who has already made a contribution!
Items needed:
  • Gently used small furniture, household items & décor, tools, lamps, vacuum cleaners, art work, etc.
  • Clothing is limited to barely worn coats and boots only
  • Children’s items & gently used toys
  • Electronics will be limited to flat screen televisions
If you need help with larger items, please contact the Church office and we can arrange to come to you!

Attend the Yard Sale and let all your friends and neighbors know!
Yard Sale is this Friday from 5 to 8pm in the courtyard and in the Parish Hall, and on Saturday from 8am until ??.  Spread the word – this is our major fundraiser for the year.  Share the Yard Sale on Facebook:

BAKED GOODS NEEDED
Calling all bakers:  baked goods are needed for the Yard Sale – would you make a delicious contribution?  We are going to have a bake sale as part of our Yard Sale and we need baked goods from the congregation. Please drop off baked goods on Thursday or Friday May in the Parish Hall.  Thank you!

THIRD FRIDAY DOWNTOWN – CHURCH TOURS AND MEATBALL SUBS
May’s 3rd Friday Downtown theme is Urban Artscapes, and we are opening our church for tours this Friday while the Yard Sale is happening downstairs.  There will be a children’s building craft in the Courtyard and we’ll be selling hot dogs and meatball subs from the kitchen in the Parish Hall.  Volunteers are still needed to help with welcoming people into the church.  Let the Parish Office or Father David (
davidmichaud07@gmail.com) know if you can help.

BISHOP CANDIDATES VISIT ST. PETER’S THIS COMING MONDAY
St. Peter’s is hosting a Bishop Candidates Forum for the four candidates for the next Bishop of Easton on Monday evening, May 23, from 6:45pm until 9:00pm.  All are invited to meet the candidates, one of whom will be elected as our next Bishop.  You should have received your copy of the Special Issue of the Eastern Shore Episcopalian which contains information on each candidate as well as the process for electing our next Bishop of Easton.  (If you are not receiving the Eastern Shore Episcopalian, please contact the office with your mailing information and we’ll forward that to the publisher so you’ll be included in future mailings – there is no cost to receiving this quarterly publication: it’s part of what we receive as members of the Diocese of Easton).

ADDITIONAL CAMERA INSTALLED IN PARISH HOUSE HALLWAY
The Vestry has approved and the Property Committee has arranged to have installed a security camera for the Parish House hallway outside the parlor.  Concerns have been raised about the safety of children going to the rest rooms from the church unaccompanied during church services and the openness of the space to the public on Sunday mornings.  It is hoped that the installation of this camera should act as a deterrent for any inappropriate or unsafe activity.

MEMORIAL BRICKS
There has been a great response to the sale of Memorial Bricks for placement in St. Peter’s Courtyard ($100 each).  We have been able to raise enough funds to complete Phase II of the courtyard project.  Thank you!

CHORAL LIBRARY ASSISTANCE
The Music Department is in the final stages of organizing and cataloging the choral library in the music suite.  There are over 600 files in St. Peter’s Choral Library, and, we are in need of two people who would enjoy spending some time during the month of June, labeling, filing and organizing files.  If you have talents in this area and would enjoy helping with this, please contact  Robert Young.

FUN PAINTERS SOUGHT
The 11 AM Choir is in the process of cleaning and preparing to paint the Music Room the second week in June.  If you enjoy painting, the company of a few crazed musicians, and would enjoy helping with this project, please contact Robert Young.
