Peter's Post

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME BEGINS THIS SUNDAY
Don’t forget to turn your clocks
ahead one hour before going to bed Saturday night.  Look forward to  worshipping with you at St. Peter’s this Sunday!

SIGN-UP FOR PARISH DIRECTORY PHOTOS BEGINS SUNDAY
Sign up this Sunday for your appointment to have your picture taken for the new 2016 St. Peter’s Pictorial Directory.  Parishioner Jim Ritch of DisciplePix will be taking pictures in the Parish Hall on Tuesday, April 12, Wednesday April 13, Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16. The sign-up sheets will be available beginning this Sunday at coffee hour in the Library for reserving your 15 minute appointment.

Everyone who participates will receive a free 8 x 10 portrait and a new directory.  It is very important for St. Peter’s as we encourage greater fellowship and as we grow as a congregation to have a good response to this so we can have as many photos of parishioners in the directory as possible.

Parish groups:  Those groups and ministries that would like a group photo should reserve an appointment on the sign-up sheets as well.

If you cannot make any of those days and times, there is a place on the sign-up sheets to indicate you are interested in being part of a make-up session in May.

In our last directory we had 96 photos of individuals and families.  Let’s see if we can get even more in the 2016 directory.  Thanks for your participation!

REHEARSALS FOR HOLY WEEK
For those servers involved in the 9am and 11am Palm Sunday services, there will be a rehearsal following the 9am worship service this Sunday, March 13.

For those involved in Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and the Easter Vigil Services during Holy Week, there will be rehearsals in the church Palm Sunday afternoon, March 20, as follows:  Maundy Thursday – 12:30pm; Good Friday – 1:00pm; Easter Vigil – 1:30pm.

EASTER FLOWERS ORDER FORMS
Order forms for Easter Lilies to adorn our altar for Easter Day are now available.  Order forms are due by Sunday, March 20.  These forms can also be found in the Parish Office.

OUR BELLS ARE ASCENDING
St. Peter’s Hand Bell Choir is moving --- up from the Music Room to a new location on the second floor of the Parish House, in the room next to the Children’s Choir.

UNIDENTIFIED KNEELERS – CAN YOU HELP?
Two of the five kneelers have been identified since last week, but these three below have not.  They were dedicated to the glory of God and have been in the Nave of the church, but information about who they were dedicated for and by has not been entered into the Kneeler Dedication record book. We are trying to correct that. If you have that information please contact Jane or Curt Massey at 410-546-3230 or
janecurt@comcast.net.  Thank you.

ST PETER’S LIBRARY

Did you know that parishioners can borrow cd books and books of all kinds from the St. Peter's library?!! Take a look; take a "book" or cd. All you need to do is sign your name, date of taking and returning.
Many folks have donated terrific materials for our interest and education to be housed there.

As an example, Sally Thrash recently donated a cookbook designed by the Trinity Guild of Trinity Episcopal Church, Jacksonville, Illinois that is fascinating to read and even more helpful for meal planning, particularly for large group meals. "When you need to make money for that special project these menus will be great help. They use many 'common ingredients,' but with little touches that remove them from the ordinary." (Introduction) Hints for planning and shopping, materials needed for the cooking, advice on whether it can be frozen ahead, how to serve, etc., etc. It was written by folks who have entertained and learned from doing so. The book is "Memorable Meals: a complete guide for serving groups." It will be, for a while, on a side table in the library so that you may find it easily. Then ...

... we hope that a volunteer will come forward to serve as our parish librarian. With so many treasures available, it would be a great service to St. Peter's congregation for someone to highlight them, especially in appropriate seasons. Please let Cathy Parsons, parish secretary, know if you would like to do this important service.

PASTORAL NEWS
This letter was received last week from Sallie Horner, widow of Bruce Horner, our past Music Director:

To St. Peter’s Congregation:  Words are inadequate to express my gratitude for the prayers and support of the congregation during Bruce’s sudden illness, death and Memorial Service.  Brothers and sisters in Christ stood by our sides and prayed with us, and sent messages of encouragement.  You cried with me, planned with me and then came to sing and celebrate and finally fed us all!  We – the whole family – are blessed by your testimony of God’s love lived out right before our eyes. Thank you, Sallie and family.
