Peter's Post

ALLELUIA! CHRIST IS RISEN! THE LORD IS RISEN INDEED! ALLELUIA!

What a joyful celebration we experienced at St. Peter’s this past Easter Sunday!  The liturgies, prayers and scripture lessons celebrated Christ’s resurrection, and the decorations, music and enthusiasm of all the congregations added wonderfully to our praise and thanksgiving for this holy event in the life of the church. Congratulations to Ryan Atkin who was baptized as the newest member of our church at the Great Vigil on Easter Eve.

Many thanks to the music ministries team, the singers, and the musicians; the Altar Guild; servers and ministers; the Vestry for the wonderful and welcoming coffee hour; the Trailblazers for organizing the fun Easter egg hunt for the children on the Downtown Plaza; and everyone who attended and invited others to be part of the festivities.  St. Peter’s has brought in the season of Easter in a grand way.

The Season of Easter, or Eastertide, is the longest feasting season of the church year, lasting 50 days from Easter Sunday through the Day of Pentecost (May 15) so keep feasting!  Alleluia! Alleluia!

NOMINEES FOR VESTRY, DELEGATES ANNOUNCED

The Nominating Committee has announced its slate of nominees for Vestry and for Delegates.  The elections will take place at the Annual Parish Meeting, to be held on Sunday, April 10 at 9:30am in the Parish Hall.  A Parish Breakfast will be held before the meeting, beginning at 8:50am.  All are invited and encouraged to attend.  The Nominees for Vestry are:  Ann Allen, Nancy Burdett, Rich Stover, Phil Shields; and the candidates nominated as 2017 Delegates to Diocesan Conventions are: Atif Gaddis, Linda Hurley, and Laura McCarthy.  Nominations for these positions may also be made from the floor.

Worship services on April 10 will be at 7:45am and 11:00am

UTO INGATHERING THIS SUNDAY

This Sunday April 3 is the United Thank Offering (UTO) Ingathering, when everyone is asked to bring in their filled UTO Blue Mite Boxes to give to the UTO during the Offertory at all services.  For more information on what your contributions to the UTO go toward, visit their website at: http://www.episcopalchurch.org/page/united-thank-offering. Thank you for your generosity!

FLOWERING OF THE CROSS AT 9AM SERVICE

Children and their families are asked to bring flowers with them to church this Sunday, April 3,  and help with the Flowering of the Cross at the 9am service (additional flowers will be provided just in case you forget or aren’t able to bring flowers in).  This is a wonderful tradition that will be done during the Offertory.

LAST OPPORTUNITIES TO SIGN-UP FOR PARISH DIRECTORY

Time is running out to have your picture in the Church Directory.  Slots open during the week are dwindling, but many are still available on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.  As of today, there are 10 slots available on Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16 and 7 slots available on Sunday, April 17.  Sign up in the Library at coffee hour this Sunday. If you are unable to sign up after one of the church services on April 3 and April 10, please call or email Carole DiPietro (410.749.4363) or cdipietro208@comcast.net to make your appointment.  If you are not available for a photo session on the currently scheduled dates, please sign up for a make up session to be scheduled in May.

VOLUNTEERS are needed during the picture taking sessions to man the door nearest the parish parking lot to allow entrance into the Parish Hall after the church office is closed.  Specifically, volunteers are needed on Tuesday, April 12 from 5:00-7:00 p.m.; Wednesday, April 13 from 5:00-7:00 p.m.; Friday, April 14 from 4:00-6:00 p.m.; Saturday, April 16 from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.; and on Sunday, April 17 from 12:30 – 6:00 p.m.  You may sign up after church services or contact Carole DiPietro.

THANK YOU to those who have scheduled appointments or signed up for the make up session and to those who have volunteered to greet parishioners at the door.  This is a project that allows us to use our time and talent toward a good cause and receive FREE STUFF.  We want you to be included in the directory.  Thank you also to Jim Ritch, our photographer and fellow parishioner.

FATHER DAVID INVITED TO A CREDO RETREAT

Our Rector, Father David Michaud, has been invited to attend an eight day CREDO Retreat for clergy sponsored by the Church Pension Fund.  These retreats are designed for clergy to examine and reflect on their lives and work in many areas: spiritual, physical, financial, emotional.  The CREDO retreat Father David will attend is located at the Diocese of Arizona’s Conference Center in Prescott, Arizona, and will take place from April 11 through 18 of this year.  Please keep Father David in your prayers as he prepares for this retreat.

REMEMBERING ST. PETER’S

Have you remembered St. Peter’s in your will or estate plan?  Contact your professional adviser and ask how a bequest or planned gift to St. Peter’s can benefit the church you love in perpetuity.  A message from St. Peter’s Planned Giving Committee.
