PARISH PICNIC IS THIS SUNDAY!
Our Annual Parish Picnic is only 4 days away! We are traveling to Cedar Hill Park, in Bivalve which is about 19 miles west of St. Peter’s down Nanticoke Road. There will be outdoor worship at 11am overlooking the beautiful Nanticoke River followed by the picnic after noon. Youth Awards will be presented during the service. Entrees, drinks, condiments and paper products will be provided. You are asked to bring a dessert, side dish or salad to share. For the worship service, bring lawn chairs if you have them (and maybe some extras to share). Also you are welcomed to bring lawn games, balls and other such equipment for youth and adults to use. Note that we will also have an 8am service in the church that day.
RAIN PLAN: In the event of rain on Sunday, we will hold an “indoor picnic” in the Parish Hall and our 11am service in the church. Right now the weather forecast is calling for cloudy skies with a chance of rain, so we may be okay. If it is raining Sunday morning, a notice about the rain plan will be posted Sunday morning on the parish Facebook page and website.
DISCERNMENT OF OUR FUTURE – GIVING INPUT AT THE PICNIC
As part of our Parish Picnic you will be invited to write down your thoughts and dreams about our future as we discern where we are going together as a parish. Butcher paper will be laid out and everyone is asked to take a few minutes during the picnic to give your comments in response to some general question as we begin the process of discernment. Thanks for your input!
SUMMER WORSHIP SCHEDULE
Please note that we are now on our summer worship schedule of two worship services on Sunday. Through Labor Day Sunday worship will be at 8am and 10am (except this Sunday when the later service is at 11am). We continue to observe Daily Prayer in the church. Here is the weekday prayer schedule for the summer:
Monday Morning Prayer at 9:30am
Tuesday Evening Prayer at 5:30pm
Wednesday Holy Eucharist with Healing: 12noon
Thursday Evening Prayer at 5:30pm (this is a time change)
Friday Morning Prayer at 8:30am
Saturday Morning Prayer at 8:30am
WICOMICO MISSION CLUSTER TO HOST JOINT V.B.S. AUGUST 7-11
As part of our efforts to collaborate on mission between neighboring Episcopal parishes, the Wicomico Mission Cluster has agreed to host a joint Vacation Bible School (V.B.S.) this summer from Sunday, August 7 through Thursday, August 11 from 5pm to 8pm – the first three days will be hosted at St. Peter’s and the last two days will be hosted by St. Alban’s, Salisbury. A coordinating committee of members from the five Episcopal Churches (St. Peter’s, St. Alban’s, St. Philip’s Quantico, St. Paul’s Hebron and St. Mary’s Tyaskin) has been meeting and emailing to work out details of this new venture. Sherri Hall and Father David have been representing St. Peter’s at these meetings.
Registration forms and information is being developed, and should be available soon. Parents and grandparents are encouraged to mark those dates on the calendar. Adult and teen volunteers are also needed for a variety of tasks, including help in the communications team, the decorating team, the food team, and during the week with crafts, storytelling and other activities. Please contact Sherri Hall if you are willing to volunteer.
Due to popular demand, we are going back to Everest! but we’ll have some new twists on some of our activities and some fun surprises. We’re also planning an outdoor picnic and water slides and activities on the last day at St. Alban’s.
This is a wonderful opportunity for all our local Episcopal Churches to come together in mission this summer and help youth in our parishes and in the wider community learn about our faith and have some fun and adventure too! Think about how you can support this new initiative of collaboration in mission.

THANK YOU FOR A WONDERFUL SEASON OF MUSIC
Thank you to St. Peter’s Choir and Choir Director Robert Young for a wonderful season of choral music at the 11am Sunday worship services and special worship services throughout the year. Thank you to St. Peter’s Grace Notes Hand Bell Choir and their director Megan Fenoglietto for their performances – and a special thank you to those new to the Bell Choir this year. Thank you to the Children’s Choir and their Director Calvin Collins and those parents who supported the choir in this first year. And thank you to Peter’s Voice and the Worship Band who led music at the 9am service. Our worship and the life of this parish is richer for your ministries, and God is praised and glorified. We look forward to another year of beautiful music this fall.
