BRUCE HORNER FUNERAL THIS SATURDAY

The funeral for Bruce Horner will take place this Saturday, January 23 at 2pm in St. Peter’s Church with a reception to follow in the Parish Hall.  Friends may call on the family at 12:30pm that day in the Parlor.  His remains will be interred at Parsons Cemetery at a later date.

The weather for Saturday is calling for storms, most likely rain, but if there are any changes in plans for the funeral they will be posted on the website.

Rest eternal grant to him, O Lord; and let light perpetual shine upon him.

MEN’S HOMELESS SHELTER JAN. 16-22

The Community Emergency Shelter Program (CESP) continues this week at St. Peter’s through Saturday morning.  On this the coldest week of the winter so far we have been pretty full with homeless men in our community seeking a warm supper and a warm place to spend the night in our Parish Hall.  Thank you to all who have volunteered.

Note:  we are in need of a man to be one of the overnight attendants this Thursday night.  If you can volunteer, please contact Bill Day at
wmgday@verizon.net or 410.430.7916.  Thank you.

Please note that the Parish Hall is unavailable for activities this week.

ROBERT YOUNG CONTINUES THROUGH MID-FEBRUARY; VESTRY TO DECIDE ABOUT POSITION

Our Interim Music Director, Robert Young, has agreed to continue in this position through February 14.  “I am so grateful that Robert has been so willing to step in to take on these responsibilities in our time of need so that our music ministries would continue, and grateful to those members of our music ministries who have taken on leadership roles as well,” said Fr. David Michaud.  “Robert had postponed his planned retirement to be with us, and has served St. Peter’s well.  His stay with us is temporary, and I understand his desire to resume his retirement plans.  I hope you will join me in wishing him well in his retirement, and thanking him for his service with us.”  The Vestry will consider at their meeting tonight the future staffing needs of our music ministries.  More information will be conveyed to the parish about the direction of the music program in the next couple of weeks.

CALL FOR CHURCH KEYS TO BE RETURNED, AND EXISTING KEYS SIGNED-OUT

We are in need of keys to the church for people who have recently taken on positions in the church that require them to be in the church after hours – specifically our lay worship leaders who officiate at Morning and Evening Prayer.  If you are in possession of a set of church keys but are no longer in a position that requires you to have these keys, please turn them in to the Parish Office as soon as you can.  There is a considerable expense in making new keys which we’d like to avoid if we could recycle existing sets of keys.

There is also now a key sign-out system that is being administered by our Parish Secretary, Cathy Parsons.  All people who possess a set of church keys are asked to let Cathy know they have keys so this information can be logged in the system:
cathyp@stpeterschurch.net
.  Thank you for your cooperation.

RECTOR AWAY NEXT WEEK

Father David Michaud will be in meetings for the General Convention Office at the Episcopal Church Center in New York City next Monday and Tuesday, January 25-26.  He will be checking email and can be reached during that time.

Father David and Kelli Michaud will be vacationing in Florida beginning the middle of next week, January 27-February 8.  Father Cuthbert Mandell will be the celebrant for the Sunday services on January 31; Father Ken Thom will be the celebrant for the Sunday services on February 7.
