Children’s Choir Forming at St. Peter’s

Exciting news: St. Peter’s Genesis Kids’ Choir is being established as a short term singing opportunity for boys and girls Grades 1 to 5. It will offer children here at St. Peter’s a unique music experience working with other youth in the preparation of quality music for worship and for Christian growth in knowledge and faith. Singers rehearse on Sunday mornings with parishioner and parent Melodi Power and St. Peter’s Music Director Bruce Horner. Parents and others will be asked to serve as musical volunteers. First practice session is this Sunday, Feb. 16 at 11:30am in the new Children’s Choir Room on the second floor of St. Peter’s Parish House (upstairs from the coffee hour room).  For more information, including  the Sundays the children have been scheduled to sing during worship, go to the Genesis Kids’ Choir page on the Parish Website:

Southern Convocation meeting tonight

The Diocese’s pre-convention Southern Convocation meeting is tonight at St. Peter’s Parish Hall at 7pm.  This meeting was postponed from January 28.  Bishop Shand will preside.  A presentation of the 2014 Diocesan Budget and the Resolutions for Debate will be on the agenda.  Delegates and Alternates to convention are required to attend; all parishioners are welcomed to come to hear the presentations.

Young Life Organization Asking to Meet in Parish Annex

The local Young Life chapter brought forth a proposal in January to use the third floor of St. Peter’s Parish Annex Building for its weekly meetings, and a portion of the second floor for office space.  The Vestry has asked the Property Committee and the Outreach Committee to look at the proposal and to bring recommendations to the Vestry at its next meeting on February 19.  The proposal was brought to the Vestry’s attention by David Etling, a Young Life leader and parishioner at St. Peter’s.

Father David Back from Vacation

Father David and Kelli Michaud made it back north through the storms yesterday and our Rector is back in the office today.  Father David writes:  “We had a great vacation full of rest and fun.  Thank s so much to the parish for your prayers and well wishes.  Thank you also to the Rev. Laura Dorsey for substituting for me on Sundays during my vacation.”

Parish Office Closed Monday

The Parish Office will be closed on Monday, February 17 in observance of the Presidents Day holiday.
