Christmas Lessons and Carols this Sunday
In place of the 9:00am and 11:00am worship services this Sunday, we are having a service of Christmas Lessons and Carols at 10:00am at St. Peter’s Church on December 29. Come hear the stories from the Scriptures surrounding Jesus birth and sing many, many Christmas Carols as we continue our celebration of the Season of Christmas. There is no Children’s Sunday School this Sunday.
The 7:45am service of Holy Eucharist Rite I will also be held on Sunday as usual.
2014 Offering Envelopes are here!
Have you picked up your box of envelopes yet? It’s waiting for you in the Parish House Parlor. Pick them up next time at coffee hour. Thank you!
Parents Meeting Sunday January 5
Father David is inviting all parents with children under 18 to join him in the Parish Hall at 10:15am between the 9am and 11am services on Sunday, January 5 for a discussion about programs and activities that could be undertaken for youth and families in 2014. Drop your children off at Sunday School, grab a cup of coffee and join Father David and fellow parents for an informal discussion about how your parish can be responsive to the needs and concerns of families in our church. Mark your calendars.
Children’s Christmas Pageant a Success
More than 20 of our children participated in the Children’s Christmas Pageant “Our Little Town of Bethlehem” this past Sunday morning, acting, singing, playing instruments, and helping out behind the scenes. It was a wonderful production that told the story of Jesus birth in a contemporary and fun way. Thank you to all the youth who participated and made the presentation this past Sunday so memorable.
Thank you also to Sherri Hall who directed the pageant and the many adults who helped organize this event. Your ministry to our youth is very important and greatly appreciated.
St. Peter’s Bus Trip to Washington DC April 25-27
A trip to Washington DC through American Christian Tours has been scheduled for April 25-27 for members and friends of St. Peter’s Church. This trip will highlight the Christian faith of our Founding Fathers and include visits to some of DC’s historic buildings and sites. Those interested must commit by January 13, 2014. Information is available this Sunday at church. Contact Andy Booth for more information.
Sign up sheets now available for CESP and Installation Reception
Sign up sheets have now been posted outside the Parlor for volunteers to sign up to help with one of St. Peter’s primary outreach ministries: hosting the Community Emergency Shelter Program (CESP) in St. Peter’s Parish Hall January 18-25. We are providing hot meals and a warm place to stay at St. Peter’s for homeless men in our community during that time. Volunteers are needed to help set up and stay overnight, and to help cook and serve meals. Will you help? Please sign up during coffee hour on Sunday. Contact Outreach Committee Chair Bill Day for more information.
Sign up sheets have also been posted outside the Parlor for volunteers to help with the reception on January 12 following the Celebration of New Ministry service at 4pm when Father David will be formally installed by the Bishop as our new Rector. Volunteers are needed to cook and to help with set up, decorations, serving and clean up. Help make this a great celebration by giving of your time and talent – please sign up to help during coffee hour on Sunday. Contact Fellowship & Hospitality Committee Chair Gil Allen for more information.
Stevie Strott, son of parishioner Peggy Staples, passed away Monday, December 23. Stevie grew up in St. Peter’s and was an acolyte here in his younger days. Funeral details will be forthcoming. Please keep Stevie’s family in your prayers during this difficult time.
