A Reminder:  This Sunday, Dec. 15, is the last day to order poinsettias for Christmas in memory or in honor of loved ones.  Forms are available at church and in the Parish Office or on-line by going to
Get Ready for Rose this Sunday!
This Sunday is the Third Sunday of Advent, also known as Gaudete Sunday, so called because the ancient church introit in Latin that commenced the Eucharist on this Sunday began with “Rejoice (Gaudete) in the Lord always!”  The theme of the day expresses the joy and anticipation at the approach of the Christmas celebration.  It is customary for the celebrant that day to wear rose-colored vestments to reflect a lightening tone of the season.  We’ll also light a rose candle on the Advent Wreath on that day.  (Episcopal Trivia question:  what is the other Sunday in the Church year where rose colored vestments are typically worn? – answer at the end of today’s Peter’s Post).

Rehearsal this Sunday for Children’s Christmas Pageant
All children who want to participate in St. Peter’s Christmas Pageant on December 22 are asked to be at rehearsal this Sunday, Dec. 15 after the 9am service in the Parish Hall .  This will take the place of Sunday School on that day.  Parts are still available.  Dress rehearsal will be held Friday December 20 at 5 pm in Parish Hall.  We will have pizza and birthday cake.  For more information , contact Sherri Hall.

Sign up sheets now available for CESP and Installation Reception
Sign up sheets have now been posted outside the Parlor for volunteers to sign up to help with one of St. Peter’s primary outreach ministries:  hosting the Community Emergency Shelter Program (CESP) in St. Peter’s Parish Hall January 18-25.  We are providing hot meals and a warm place to stay at St. Peter’s for homeless men in our community during that time.  Volunteers are needed to help set up and stay overnight, and to help cook and serve meals.  Will you help?  Please sign up during coffee hour on Sunday.  Contact Outreach Committee Chair Bill Day for more information.
Sign up sheets have also been posted outside the Parlor for volunteers to help with the reception on January 12 following the Celebration of New Ministry service at 4pm when Father David will be formally installed by the Bishop as our new Rector.  Volunteers are needed to cook and to help with set up, decorations, serving and clean up.  Help make this a great celebration by giving of your time and talent – please sign up to help during coffee hour on Sunday.  Contact Fellowship & Hospitality Committee Chair Gil Allen for more information.

Canned Food Drive Continues this Sunday

During Sundays in Advent we are collecting nonperishable food items at each worship service for delivery to organizations that feed the hungry here in our communityAs part of our outreach ministry in December, the Outreach Committee is highlighting a different local organization each week.  This Sunday all the food collected will be delivered to the Maryland Food Bank.  When you’re out shopping this week, why not put a few extra items in your shopping cart for those in need, and bring your canned goods or other nonperishable items to church this Sunday.  Thank you!
Advent Lessons and Carols
Thank you to all who made our service of Advent Lessons and Carols such a wonderful, moving experience this past Sunday evening.  Thank you to members of the Grace Notes Bell Choir, St. Peter’s Festival Choir, and especially to Music Director Bruce Horner for his many hours of work and his beautiful playing of the organ for the service.  During that service more than $400 was collected for St. Paul’s by the Sea’s Shepherd’s Crook program to help those in need in Ocean City.
Congratulations Lauren and Brandon

Lauren and Brandon Parsons were married at St. Peter’s Church this past Saturday evening in a service of Holy Matrimony.  Lauren and Brandon are newcomers to St. Peter’s, and have been part of the 9am congregation since this summer.  Congratulations Lauren and Brandon!

Father David will be out of town on Silent Retreat from Wednesday afternoon until Friday evening .  For pastoral emergencies please contact the Parish Office or the Wardens for a priest who is on call while Father David is away.
