Reeves Scholarship Winner Announced
The recipient of this year’s John Patrick Reeves Scholarship is parishioner Kelsey Vincent, who will be recognized for her achievement at the 10am worship service this Sunday.  Kelsey will be attending the University of Mary Washington this fall.  This year’s Scholarship is $1,500.  The Reeves Scholarship is need-based and is given each year to a member of St. Peter’s Church who demonstrates academic ability.  Congratulations, Kelsey!

Acolyte and Crucifer meeting August 18

There will be a meeting of all Acolytes and Crucifers Sunday August 18 after the 10am Service so that Father David can go over some changes to the Sunday worship services and give Acolytes and Crucifers a chance to practice and ask questions.  If you are an Acolyte or Crucifer, please stay a few minutes after the service.  We’ll meet in the church.  Thank you.

No Noon Holy Eucharist on Wed., Aug. 14
The Priest in Charge is out of town next Wednesday (see below) so there will be no Noon Eucharist in the church next Wednesday, August 14.

Fall Sunday Worship Schedule Announced

Parish Picnic at Green Hill Aug. 25
Come to St. Peter’s Parish Family Picnic after the 11am worship service on Sunday, August 25 at historic Green Hill Church.  The parish will provide the chicken, drinks and paper products.  Tables and tents will be set up.  Parishioners are asked to bring a side dish, salad or dessert to share, and lawn chairs.  It will likely be very warm, so dress casually and cool.
Green Hill Sunday is a tradition started in the mid-nineteenth century when all the parishes of the mother church at Green Hill would come together around St. Bartholomew’s Feast Day (Aug. 24) for Sunday worship.  This year, St. Peter’s will join with St. Alban’s, Salisbury; St. Philip’s, Quantico, St. Paul’s, Hebron, and St. Mary’s, Tyaskin in worship and picnicking after the service.  Fr. David is the Preacher this year, and St. Peter’s will join with St. Alban’s in a combined choir (practice is Aug 22 at 7pm in choir room and one hour before the Aug. 25 service).  Flyers with directions to Green Hill
Church will be available in church this Sunday at both worship services.

Father David away with the Lutherans Aug 12-14
Besides being our Parish Priest, Father David Michaud has been involved for many years with the General Convention, the triennial gathering of the Episcopal Church.  He has been the Convention’s Database Manager for the past three conventions, and is consulting with the National Church for the 2015  General Convention, specifically on an initiative to go from paper to digital with deputies and Bishops using personal laptops, tablets and other such screen devices.  The Lutherans at their annual national assembly next week in Pittsburgh are trying that too, so Father David has been asked by the Executive Officer of the General Convention to observe their operations.  He will be in Pittsburgh this Monday through Wednesday, with all expenses covered by the National Church.

Applications being accepted for full-time Parish Secretary Position
