GET INVOLVED IN ST. PETER’S FUTURE: SIGN UP FOR PARISH DISCERNMENT COTTAGE MEETINGS
Your presence is needed at a Discernment Cottage Meeting as we discuss our future together at St. Peter’s. This is a critical part of our discernment process and your participation is very important. At coffee hour this Sunday, please go to the sign up table and indicate which meeting you would like to attend. We need to know how many are interested in each time so we can have enough facilitators. There may be between one to four meetings at a particular time, depending on how many people are interested in that time slot. All meetings are held at St. Peter’s.
The meetings should take an hour or so. We will begin with a video presentation and then have discussions in groups of 10 to 12 led by a member of the Vestry. Vestry members are being trained through Episcopal Church Foundation to facilitate these sessions.
Here are the dates and times for the meetings:
Wednesday, Sept. 7th (10 a.m. & 7 p.m.);
Thursday, Sept. 8th (7 p.m.);
Sunday, Sept. 11th (1 p.m.);
Monday, Sept. 12th (10 a.m., 7 p.m.);
Tuesday, Sept. 13th (7 p.m.);
Wednesday, Sept. 14th (7 p.m.); and
Sunday, Sept. 18th (10:15 a.m.)
You can also contact the Parish Office and let them know when you want to sign up. Thank you for making time to help your parish discern our future.
CHRISTMAS IN AUGUST YIELDS A BOUNTIFUL HARVEST
Thank you to everyone who donated items in the clothes drive for Wi-Middle in our Christmas in August campaign. The response was overwhelming and you will see that when we offer up what has been collected at the Offertory this Sunday. Thank you for your participation!
PARISH PICTORIAL DIRECTORY
Work has continued throughout the summer to pull together St. Peter’s new Parish Pictorial Directory. Now a draft of the directory’s contact listings is expected to be available this Sunday, September 4 at the church for the parish to review. Someone from each household listed is asked to review your information on the list to ensure it is accurate. Please sign off so we know it is correct, or correct any mistakes. Copies of this list will be at the back of the church and at coffee for the next two Sundays. It is important for you to check to make sure your information is correct before we go to the printer. Thank you.
MORE DETAILS ANNOUNCED FOR BISHOP MURRAY’S INSTALLATION ON OCT 15
The diocese’s Transition Committee has announced more details about the upcoming installation of the Rt. Rev. Santosh Murray as the eleventh Bishop of Easton. We will be celebrating the Investiture of our new bishop at 11am on Saturday October 15 at Todd Performance Center, Chesapeake College, Wye Mills. All members of parishes in the Diocese of Easton are encouraged to attend. Parishioners are encouraged to carpool and arrive early.
Children’s Choir to participate
St. Peter’s Children’s Choir, the Key Singers, has been invited to perform at the service. They will be singing during the Prelude.
Lay Ministers encouraged to participate
In order to celebrate the fullness of baptized ministry in the diocese, Acolytes, Lay Eucharistic Ministers, and other Lay Ministers are invited by the Transition Committee to vest and process during the procession in the liturgy. All lay ministers are welcome to vest and process, but only those who register will be able to do so, as seats will need to be reserved. Please email Father David at email@example.com or contact the Parish Office by Thursday, October 7 if you are interested in participating. Father David needs to send a list of participants to the Transition Committee prior to the service. Lay ministers from St. Peter’s will be processing behind our parish banner.

This fall at the Ministry Fair youth will be asked to help decorate shoe boxes for use by the CARES program at Wi-Middle that will contain toiletries and basic items for students in need. Sunday School Director Bravard Cornbrooks is asking parishioners to bring in over the next two Sundays any of the following items and place them in the container in the parlor at coffee hour. Thank you.
ITEMS NEEDED: Toothpaste, Toothbrushes, Deodorant, Kleenexes, Hand sanitizers, Lotion, Soap, Combs, Shampoo, Granola bars, Non-perishable snacks, t-shirts, underwear, socks.
MINISTRY FAIR SEPTEMBER 11
On September 11 we return to three worship services on Sunday and on that day we will hold our annual Ministry Fair downstairs in the Parish Hall. Be sure to come down and see all the ministries St. Peter’s has to offer and how you can be involved. This is also the place to register for Children’s Sunday School and the Trailblazers Youth Group. Ministry leaders: please let Parish Secretary Cathy Parsons know how many tables you will need for your display.
SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS NEEDED
Do you have the gift of teaching? Are you interested in seeing that our young people grow in knowledge of Jesus Christ and Christian beliefs and practices? Would you consider giving of our time and talent as part of a team of teachers for our elementary school classes this year? At press time there is no one who has offered to teach our elementary school children at Sunday School. This is a serious concern: every time there is a baptism we as a congregation promise to “do all in our power to support this child in his/her life in Christ,” which includes providing Christian formation and education for the children in our parish. Will you consider volunteering for this important ministry? A schedule has already been established and you would not have to teach every Sunday. The curriculum is very accessible and does not require involved preparations. If you feel strongly about Christian formation of our youth and have interest and skills in teaching youth, please contact the Sunday School Coordinator, Bravard Cornbrooks, for more information and to offer your services at firstname.lastname@example.org; 410-749-0245. Please pray that teachers will hear and respond to this call to ministry.
HAND BELL CHOIR RESUMES REHEARSALS THIS THURSDAY – NEW RINGERS WELCOME!
It’s all about the music! Grace Notes, our handbell choir, is a very important part of the music ministry at St. Peter’s and adds a beautiful element to the worship experience. Our members age in range from middle school through adult and have varying musical abilities.
If you are interested in exploring this wonderful musical opportunity, please come on Thursday, September 1st or Thursday, September 8th at 5:30pm to the Handbell Choir Room on the second floor of the Parish House. We will teach you the basic ins and outs of playing handbells in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. No musical experience required and no commitment required (unless, of course, you end up liking it!!).
If you have any questions, please contact Megan Fenoglietto, Grace Notes handbell choir director.
COME JOIN THE KEY SINGERS
Practices for St. Peter’s Children’s and Youth Choir – “the Key Singers” --are Tuesdays at 6 PM in the Key Singer’s Choir Room If you have any children or youth who like to sing or you hear singing in the car, please let Calvin Collins know at Musicalcollins@gmail.com or between worship services for more information. Christ welcomes all just as this choir welcomes all people who desire a challenge in music excellency and to know and serve God through music. Please pray for the parents, children, and youth in this choir. If you would like to help out with the choir during practices, please let Calvin know.
CARING FOR CREATION: WICOMICO RIVER CLEAN UP SEPT 17
The Wicomico Interfaith Partners for Creation Stewardship which includes St. Peter’s is hosting a clean up of the Wicomico River and its downtown surroundings in conjunction with International Coastal Clean Up Day on Saturday, September 17th from 10:00am to 12:30pm. Since this clean up will take place downtown where St. Peter’s is located, it would be wonderful to have folks from St. Peter’s taking part. Everyone will meet at the downtown parking lot on the Wicomico River next to Market Street Inn. Bring water, gloves, hat, sunscreen – and your boat if you wish to clean up from the water. Mark your calendars and plan to attend to help care for God’s creation. For more information contact John Groutt: email@example.com 443-523-0204
