Picnic at Green Hill Church a Success

Members of St. Peter’s were well represented at Green Hill Sunday last Sunday when the five Wicomico Episcopal Churches joined together for our annual Holy Eucharist at the historic church.  It was a beautiful sunny and cool day, and the church was filled with about 150 worshippers.  There was beautiful music from the St. Peters and St. Alban’s combined choir, and from Peter’s Voice (who played a memorable version of “Rite One Man” for the Postlude in tribute to our late parishioner Lay Phillips.)  A new dossal curtain was presented by the Phillips family and dedicated by Father David for use in the church.  Father David was the preacher, and preached a sermon about remembering our past and working together for our future.

After the service the congregations joined together for a picnic by the river.  There was a lot of delicious food and good fellowship and talk about making this picnic a tradition in the years to come.  Many thanks to the Fellowship and Hospitality Committee for their work in coordinating the picnic, and to everyone who contributed to the success of Green Hill Sunday.

This is the last Summer Schedule Sunday

Almighty God, who hast so linked our lives one with another that all we do affects, for good or ill, all other lives: So guide us in the work we do, that we may do it not for self alone, but for the common good; and, as we seek a proper return for our own labor, make us mindful of the rightful aspirations of
other workers, and arouse our concern for those who are out of work; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. (BCP p. 210)

Sign up for a Foyer Group

There has been a good response so far for the fall Foyer Groups, and there is still time for you to sign up. A Foyer Group is like a supper club for church members and is a great way to get to know other members of St. Peter’s in a relaxed setting with a simple meal. Eight people are assembled into a group (four couples or a combination of couples and singles). Once a month for four months, a different member of the group hosts a dinner at home for the other members of the group. The host provides a main dish and beverages with the others bringing an appetizer, a salad, a dessert, etc.

Groups will be contacted in late August with the intention of having a dinner in September, October, November, and December. We hope to continue with new groups in the spring. Sign up forms will be available in church. You can also sign up by sending your name(s), telephone number and email address to the Foyer Group Coordinator, Ann Allen, at

New Parish Prayer List September 8:  When we return to three services in the fall, we will also have a new Parish Prayer List.  Please let Father David or the Parish Office know if you would like names of individuals you have placed on the prayer list to remain there.  Thank you.
