Parish Seeking Full-time Secretary
There is a lot of activity at St. Peter's with more to come! To meet the greater demands generated
by increased activities in the fall by the parish’s many committees, increased work on many welcome initiatives such as user-friendly bulletins, the website, and other publications, and based on a more positive trend of giving by parishioners, the Vestry, at its July 24 meeting, approved the funding of a full-time Parish Secretary for the remainder of the year. The Parish Secretary will be hired by and report to the Priest in Charge, Father David. A Job Announcement has been posted on the Parish website and on the bulletin board outside the Parlor in the Parish House. Copies are available by request from the Parish Office. Members of St. Peter’s Church are not eligible. Please spread the word about this position and encourage qualified applicants to apply. It is hoped that this position will be filled by early September.

Green Hill Sunday August 25th
St. Peter’s and the four other Wicomico County Episcopal churches will travel to the banks of the Wicomico River for our traditional observance of Green Hill Sunday at our mother church, Green Hill Church (a.k.a. St. Bartholomew’s Church) on Sunday, August 25 at 11am. Father David will be the preacher; St. Peter’s and St. Alban’s will have a combined choir, and Peter’s Voice will play as well. New this year: a parish picnic after the service – St. Peter’s along with the other churches will host an after service picnic on the Green Hill Church grounds. Bring a side dish, dessert or salad; St. Peter’s will supply the chicken and drinks. Bring lawn chairs to sit on as well. There will be no 10am service at St. Peter’s Church on August 25.
Choir Practice For Green Hill Sunday
Singers are needed for Green Hill Sunday, August 25th. If you would like to be part of the choir that Sunday, please plan to be at Rehersals on Thursday, August 22 at 7PM - 8:15 PM and August 25 at 10 AM. Music is available in advace: Contact Music Director Bruce Horner.
Eucharistic Minister Training August 6
If you are interested in being trained as a Eucharistic minister to serve at the altar at St. Peter’s, learning how to administer the chalice at communion and other responsibilities, contact Father David or Linda Smith. A training for those interested will be held on Tuesday, August 6 at 7pm in the church.
St. Peter’s Caring Team
Are you willing to be called on to help a fellow parishioner in need? Then join St. Peter’s Caring Team. Simply send your name and email address to Pastoral Care Committee Chair Laura McCarthy and tell her to put you on the email list for the Caring Team. Then, when help is needed, you’ll receive an e-mail. If you are able to help, just send an email back with what you can commit to do. Let Laura know if you have any special skills or interests in offering help, like: “like to bake” or “can do some simple home repairs.” Thank you.
Frank Robinson continues his recovery from a stroke and is now at Atria.
Ruth Anne Oartel continues to heal from her second surgery for a detached retina and reports she now has 40% of her vision back. Keep them and all those on the prayer list in your prayers.
NOTE: St. Peter’s does not have a current list of parishioners who are unable to come to church and so the Pastoral Care Committee is in the process of putting together a new “Shut-ins” list so that we can continue to connect with these parishioners, providing communion for them, and checking in to see how they are doing. If you know of someone who should be on this list, please provide their name to the Pastoral Care Committee Chair Laura McCarthy or to the Parish office. Thank you.
Editor’s note: Pastoral News is a regular feature of Peter’s Post. Please pass along this Pastoral News to those who do not have access to the Internet and cannot receive Peter’s Post.
