BAPTISM, SENIOR BLESSING HAPPENING THIS SUNDAY
This Sunday, Dennis Supe will be baptized as an adult at the 10am worship service. Dennis has been faithfully attending baptism classes during this past spring and summer. He is the husband of Lindsey Supe, and Lindsey and Dennis had their civil marriage blessed at St. Peter’s this past May. They have been attending St. Peter’s since March. Please pray for Dennis as he prepares to receive the Sacrament of Holy Baptism.
Also at the 10am service, Father David will offer a prayer and blessing for our graduated high school seniors (and Senior Acolytes), Mattie Maull and Andrew Bugas, who will be attending college this fall.
CLOTHING DRIVE BEGINS SUNDAY: “CHRISTMAS IN AUGUST”
Jesus was asked “when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you clothing?” And Jesus answered, “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to the least of one of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.” (Matthew 25:36, 40)
Are you aware that there are children in our community who come to school inadequately clothed and in need of basic items? As a faith partner to Wicomico Middle School, St. Peter’s is helping to stock a clothes closet at the school to help those children who do not have adequate clothing and are in need of shirts, socks, pants, underwear and sweatshirts. St. Peter’s Outreach Committee is setting up a tree in the church that contains paper “ornaments” listing children’s clothing items and sizes. The Committee is asking parishioners to pick one or more ornaments from the tree, purchase new items described on the ornament and deliver them unwrapped to the baskets at church by August 29. The Committee will deliver these items to Wicomico Middle School for use throughout the year. It’s a lot like buying gifts for those in need for Christmas, only by participating in this clothing drive, you’ll be part of “Christmas in August.” Thank you for helping St. Peter’s to help youth in need at our partner school, Wi-Middle.

ST. PETER’S BUILD DAY FOR HABITAT FOR HUMANITY – AUGUST 15
Having a home to go to is something we take for granted. Habitat for Humanity is about building homes for those in need of a home, and St. Peter’s has had a history of parishioners turning out to help provide shelter to those in need. Are you willing to donate a few hours of your time building a house on Saturday, August 15? The house being built is located in the neighborhood near the Rt. 50 post office in Salisbury. Work begins at 8:45-9:00am on August 15. Please contact Megan Fenoglietto at 410-860-9258 or email@example.com if interested in volunteering.
READY, SET GO: TEACHER RESOURCE DAY – AUGUST 15
St. Peter’s is hosting a Diocesan resource day for teachers and youth leaders on Saturday, August 15, from 9am to 3pm, to be led by the Diocesan Youth Missioner, Joann Fisher. All teachers and youth leaders are asked to attend. The Safeguarding God’s Children training will be offered as part of the program. All adults who are working with children are required by the parish to have completed this training.
GREEN HILL SUNDAY AUGUST 23
Once a year the five churches of Wicomico County come together at our mother church, Old Green Hill, for Holy Eucharist and a combined picnic afterwards on the banks of the Wicomico River. This year’s service is on Sunday, August 23 at 11am at Green Hill Church. Click here for a map and instructions: http://www.stpeterschurch.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Green-Hill-Map-2-1.pdf There will be an 8am service that day at St. Peter’s, but no 10am service that day so that we can attend the Green Hill service.
This year St. Peter’s is providing the music for the service under the leadership of our new Adult Choir. Choir rehearsal for the service is on Thursday, August 20 at 7:30pm in St. Peter’s Music Room. All are welcomed to join in the choir.
St. Peter’s is also providing set up for the picnic. The Fellowship and Hospitality Committee meets next week to work out details and an announcement on the picnic will be made after that meeting.
BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS AT AUGUST THIRD FRIDAY – 8/21
The theme for Third Friday Downtown in August is “Dog Days of Summer” and once again St. Peter’s will be featuring Blessing of the Animals in the newly reconfigured courtyard on that day, August 21. They were very popular last year, and all animals and their human companions and supporters are welcomed to come take part. Blessings are scheduled for 5:30pm and 6:15pm at St. Peter’s courtyard on St. Peter’s Street. Mark your calendars and spread the word.
YOUTH MINISTRIES INTERN AT ST. PETER’S

To view the job description, go to http://www.stpeterschurch.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Youth-Intern-Coordinator.pdf. Please forward this to anyone you think might be interested or you think might be a good candidate for this position.
JOSEPH “JOE” ATKINSON
Long time parishioner Joe Atkinson passed away peacefully on July 25 at Manokin Manor. As was his wish, his body has been donated to science. There will be a Memorial Service for him on Monday, August 10 at 11am at St. Peter’s Church. Friends may visit with the family an hour before in the Parlor. A reception will be held afterwards at the home of Bill and Trudy Day. Please keep Bill, Trudy and the rest of Joe’s family in your prayers during this difficult time.
Give rest, O Christ, to thy servant with thy saints, where sorrow and pain are no more, neither sighing, but life everlasting.
