Peter's Post

Happy Eastertide!  The Lord is Risen! Alleluia! Alleluia!

EASTER:  IT’S NOT JUST ONE DAY

What wonderful worship we experienced at St. Peter’s this past Sunday as we rejoiced at the Resurrection of Our Lord!  And we’re just getting started….

Easter Sunday begins the longest feasting season of the Church year, the Season of Easter, or Eastertide, which lasts 50 days until the Day of Pentecost.  Throughout this season we celebrate our Lord’s resurrection, rejoicing that Christ lives and is with his church.  So keep feasting!  It has been noted that Eastertide is longer than Lent, so we’re feasting more than we’re fasting.  And why not?  Because Christ is alive and brings hope and salvation into our lives.  Those who have turned their lives to Christ during the season of Lent now live into that new life in Christ during Eastertide.  So, Easter is not over – it’s just beginning.  Alleluia!

UTO INGATHERING THIS SUNDAY – BRING YOUR BLUE MITE BOX TO CHURCH

This Sunday at all services we will be gathering United Thank Offering (UTO) blue mite boxes at the offertory.  Don’t forget to bring your mite boxes with your coins with you on Sunday to be part of the UTO ingathering.  For more information on all the good done by the United Thank Offering, go to
http://www.episcopalchurch.org/page/united-thank-offering.

FLOWERING OF THE CROSS THIS SUNDAY AT 9AM

Children will be encouraged during the Offertory at the 9am service to participate in the traditional flowering of the cross.  They will assist the ushers in collecting the UTO mite boxes and bring them to a special cross that will be decorated with flowers.

ST. PETER’S TO PARTNER WITH WICOMICO MIDDLE SCHOOL

St. Peter’s is now a faith-based partner with Wicomico Middle School, which is located a few blocks west of the church on Main Street opposite the City Park.  The Outreach Committee will be coordinating a teacher appreciation activity in May and support for the C.A.R.E.S. initiative to help students that are in need of food, clothing and school supplies.  Look for more information on St. Peter’s outreach to the students and staff of Wi Middle in upcoming Peter’s Posts and as part of Sunday announcements.
