Peter's Post

THIS SUNDAY IS ROGATION SUNDAY, CHILDREN’S RAIN GARDEN; ASCENSION DAY MAY 4
Rogation Collect for fruitful seasons
Almighty God, Lord of heaven and earth: We humbly pray that thy gracious providence may give and preserve to our use the harvests of the land and of the seas, and may prosper all who labor to gather them, that we, who constantly receive good things from thy hand, may always give thee thanks; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

This Sunday is the traditional day to say prayers for the crops that are being planted this year, and for our lands and waters.  We plan to conclude our Rogation Sunday worship services at 9am and 11am by processing outside where Father David will offer prayers and blessings for our grounds and the surrounding area.

Children’s Rain Garden:  This Sunday during Sunday School the children will be planting flowers in the Children’s Rain Garden near the Parish Annex building.

Ascension Day is one of the 7 principal feasts of the church year, commemorating the day 40 days from Easter, when Our Lord ascended into heaven (Acts 1:3-11).  St. Peter’s will have a service of Holy Eucharist on Ascension Day, May 4, at 7pm in the church.  It is a joyful celebration of Christ’s ascension when he is seated at the right hand of God the Father, from where he now rules until the Last Day.

PHOTOS ARE READY FOR PICK UP
Church Photos are here!  Your free 8x10 and any other prints you may have ordered when photographed by Jim Ritch of Disciplepix will be available to be picked up this Sunday.  An envelope with your name on it will be on the table in the back of the church when you enter for worship.   Our thanks to Jim for the speedy service!

If you have not scheduled your appointment for May 25 or May 26, please contact Carole DiPietro by emailing
cdipietro208@comcast.net or calling 410.749.4364.  Don’t miss out on this opportunity to get your FREE 8 x 10 and copy of the church directory.

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THE TRAILBLAZERS YOUTH GROUP!
More than $500 was raised for the Youth Fund at St. Peter’s through the support and generosity of those who attended last Sunday’s Italian Café Night.  Thank you!  And thanks to our youth, their parents, and our Youth Ministries Intern Nivek Johnson for all their hard work and delicious food and drink!

HOSTS NEEDED FOR COFFEE HOUR
There are many open Sundays in May that are in need of someone to host Coffee Hour after Sunday services.  This is an important ministry of hospitality and an important way to welcome visitors.  Would you be willing to help?  Sign up on the board in the parlor on Sunday or let the Parish Office know.  Thank you.

ST. PETER’S HAND BELL CHOIR AND CHILDREN’S CONCERT FRIDAY, MAY 13
St. Peter’s Hand Bell Choir and Children’s Choir are coming together this spring to present one spring concert featuring both choirs on Friday, May 13 at 6pm in St. Peter’s Church.  There will be a free will offering taken up at the concert for the Music Fund to benefit both choirs.  Mark your calendars and plan to attend and support our choirs.

VOLUNTEERS FOR JOESPH HOUSE LUNCH OUTREACH MINISTRY
One of St. Peter’s outreach ministries is to prepare and take lunch to the Joseph House Crisis Center on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Volunteers help prepare the meal in the morning at St. Peter’s kitchen, then transport it and serve the meal at the Center.

In operation since 1984 the Joseph House Crisis Center on Boundary Street in Salisbury provides emergency and on-going assistance for individuals and families in need on the Lower Shore. The Dining Room serves a hot lunch that is available for anyone. A dozen churches in the Salisbury area including St. Peter’s take turns preparing and serving the meals.

St. Peter’s volunteer schedule for this ministry is now being planned.  Please let Nancy Reddish know if you would like her to add your name to the volunteer list – or subtract your name.  The new schedule begins in June, so contact her soon at
dentists02@comcast.net or call 410-742-7758.
Thank you – it is really such a blessing to all involved!
