EASTERTIDE CONTINUES – KEEP FEASTING!
We are just past the midpoint of the Easter season -- the longest feasting season of the year (10 days longer than Lent), when we continue to rejoice about the Good News of the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The paschal candle remains lit at services throughout this season as a joyful reminder of our celebration of the resurrection. As we move toward the later days of Easter, we will be celebrating Rogation Sunday on May 1 – when we traditionally say prayers for planting and for the care of creation, Ascension Day on May 5 when Christ ascended into heaven, and the last day of the Easter Season, Pentecost on May 14, when the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples and the church was born.
May we continue to rejoice that Christ is risen! The Lord is risen indeed! Alleluia! Alleluia!

CANDIDATES FOR THE BISHOP OF EASTON ANNOUNCED
Four candidates have been nominated by the diocese’s Standing Committee to stand for election for the eleventh Bishop of Easton. They are the Rev. Kathy Andonian, the Very Rev. Brian Grantz, the Rev. John Mennell, and the Rt. Rev. San Murray. Information about these candidates may be found on the Diocesan Bishop Search website: http://eastonbishopsearch.org/nominations-2/.
These candidates will be at St. Peter’s on Monday, May 23 from 6:45pm to 9:00pm as part of their walk-about in the Diocese in the latter part of May. You are invited to meet the candidates at that time, one of whom will be our next bishop. Also be on the look out for a special issue of the Eastern Shore Episcopalian next month which has more information on the candidates and the election process.
The election of the Bishop of Easton occurs in a special diocesan convention on Saturday, June 11 in Trinity Cathedral in Easton. To be elected, a candidate must receive a majority of votes in both the clergy order and the lay order of delegates. It is not uncommon for several ballots to be cast before a candidate is elected.
Father David was a member of the Bishop Search and Nominating Committee which conducted interviews and checks on the many candidates before recommending the four candidates to the Standing Committee. None of the candidates currently serves in the Diocese of Easton.
