Peter's Post

ST. PETER’S CELEBRATES ROGATION SUNDAY THIS SUNDAY
The sixth Sunday of Easter is a traditional time to celebrate Rogation Sunday, a time when the fields, waterways, crops and livestock are blessed.  We will end our 9am and 11am services by recessing outside for the final Rogation prayers and blessings (weather permitting).

ST. PETER’S SPRING MUSIC CONCERT THIS SUNDAY AFTERNOON
St. Peter’s music ministries are joining together on Sunday afternoon May 21 at 3pm for a wonderful Spring Concert at St. Peter’s Church.  You’ve heard these great musicians and singers at worship throughout the year – now experience them all together in one concert.  You are invited and encouraged to bring friends and family.  The concert will feature St. Peter’s Adult Choir with Robert Young at the organ, Peter’s Voice, our children’s choir: the Key Singers, and our Grace Notes Hand bell Choir.  A reception is to follow in the parlor.

THIRD FRIDAY IS THIS FRIDAY
St. Peter’s is participating in this Friday’s Third Friday Downtown festivities from 5pm to 8pm.  The overall theme is Urban Artscapes and St. Peter’s will showcase our architecture with tours of the church.  There will also be food sold in the courtyard and a children’s activities.  Volunteers are needed.  Contact Linda Hurley if you can help at
linda.hurley@comcast.net. Please stop by the church this Friday and encourage others to come by as well.  Check out our new Episcopal flags flying on the grounds to let people know there’s something going on at St. Peter’s.

ASCENSION DAY SERVICE – MAY 25
After his suffering Jesus presented himself alive to them by many convincing proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God.  Then, as they were watching, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. (Acts 1:3,9)

On the 40th Day of Easter the church celebrates the Ascension of Our Lord, which this year falls on Thursday, May 25.  While it is one of the 7 Principal Feasts of the church year, the Feast of the Ascension tends to fall far below other Principal Feasts like Christmas and Easter in being observed – but St. Peter’s will be observing this joyful feast with a Solemn Eucharist on Thursday, May 25 at 7pm and all parishioners are encouraged to attend.  Like being present for services reminding us of events of our Lord’s Passion, coming to the Ascension service reminds us of Our Lord’s post-resurrection events as well.

REMEMBERING THOSE WHO MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE

The names of those who have died in service to the nation will be remembered at the altar on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29 at the 8:30am service of Holy Eucharist.  There is a form available this Sunday and from the Parish Office for parishioners to submit names of individuals you would like remembered.  Names should be turned in by May 24.

PARISH REGISTRAR POSITION OPEN
The office of Parish Registrar is open and in need of a volunteer.  It is a one year term position, with additional terms possible.  Carole DiPietro has served in this position for three years, and as of the Annual Meeting has ended her tenure, so a new parishioner is needed to fill this position.  The Vestry elects the Registrar.

The main responsibilities of the Registrar are to take the minutes at the monthly Vestry meetings and the Parish Meeting.  Additionally the Registrar handles official correspondence, signs off on credentials for delegates to Diocesan Convention and oversees the care of official parish records.  The Registrar also has voice and vote on the Vestry.

Anyone interested in volunteering for this position -- and if anyone knows a good candidate for this position -- please contact the Rector, Father David:
davidmichaud07@gmail.com, or any Vestry member.
